So far I'm really happy with Sequoia. It corrected by biggest issue with my Studio and all bluetooth devices stay connected with no drops at all!!!! That was so annoying!!!

I never noticed other complaints of a problem I've had ever since Sequoia release (late 2021 M1 Pro 16-inch MBP):

When an episode of a podcast ended, and I had nothing selected to Play Next, my "Playing Next" queue would automatically self-populate, even with shows I don't follow; it wouldn't auto-play them, but the queue would populate). Weird... Anyway, so far, no such issue since I updated to 15.1 on day of release.

I have my MacBook Pro 16" connected via HDMI to a 32" 4K 144 Hz monitor. After updating, I can't use the scaled resolution 3008x1692 (same as Pro Display XDR, so things look "normal" sized on macOS) with 144 Hz refresh rate or variable refresh rate, which was working (at least, I could set it and my monitor OSD showed 144 Hz) previously on Sequoia 15.0/15.0.1.

In MacOS 15.0.1, I had VRR 48-144hz on my 32" Gigabyte 4k HDR gaming monitor @ 3360x1890 & 3840x2160 connected over Thunderbolt 3.

After updating to 15.1, things are noticibly bad:

HDR, VRR & 144hz modes disappear at resolutions above 2560x1440
3008x1692 caps at 120hz fixed
3360x1890 caps at 98hz fixed

It's almost as if my non-Apple display connected over Thunderbolt 3 is somehow being constrained like a 4K display connected over HDMI 2.1.

I'm guessing it's a bug now where if it doesn't see it as an Apple Display or some other familiar device in a list somewhere it's defaulting the display connection profile down to assume it's 4K TV over HDMI.

We might have the same monitor—Gigabyte M32U? Your comment reminded me I didn't test over USB-C. I get the same results as yours with my Thunderbolt cable. Interestingly, at 3360x1890, I get 100 Hz over HDMI 2.1 instead of 98 Hz over USB-C (using an Apple Thunderbolt 4 cable, so not a bandwidth issue). That said, I do still get 144 Hz VRR with HDR at 3840x2160 since it doesn't have to scale that up for HiDPI.

If you have an M32U, did you ever notice a blue highlight/shadow behind black-on-white text? I would occasionally get that on lines of text on the right half of my monitor, which I haven't noticed since updating. If that's resolved, then this is an acceptable trade-off for me, because 120 Hz vs 144 Hz isn't huge and I don't enable the HDR on this monitor. But it's only been a couple days so I'm not counting on it.

Yup, Gigabyte M32U. No blue highlight/shadows on text though. I've experienced that on some ASUS 4K screens over HDMI that are trying to register as 10-bit color using 8-bit + dithering.

Apple Intelligence on my M1 Pro is stuck on Preparing....been that way since Monday.

Seems like this may be a bug.

I solved this by setting up my M1 as new. Had to reinstall all apps and data, but Apple Intelligence prompted me to activate. When I tried just erasing and restoring from Time Machine, it was still stuck in Preparing. So, something with my data seemed to be the issue. I also tried signing out of iCloud and back in, to no avail.

So, for me, the brute force erase, and set up as new without a backup solved the problem.

Posting this in case others have this issue.

M2 Mac mini. Updated to 15.1. Suddenly (and immediately after updating) all media that relies on Apple’s own media playback protocols is now played back slower and pitched down. This goes for all QuickTime files and all media in Safari. Music and TV (the content played back through there) don’t seem to be affected. Media played through Opera isn’t affected. What the heck is this?

It may have something to do with the DisplayPort spec being exported to my display… Was an update or change to DisplayPort drivers pushed as part of the update? This LG display has been absolute garbage since the day I got it. Only afterward did I discover that there’s apparently a manufacturing defect that makes them not work correctly (visually) with Macs… and now with audio, too.

More of a question that doesn't deserve a whole new thread... I'm on 15.1 and my Grapher app (in the Utilities folder) is version 2.7. Yet on my older Mac with OS 12.7 I have Grapher 2.8. Has something failed to update, or is 2.7 normal under 15.1?

Mine is 2.7 also.

It's 2.7 on Sonoma too.

Connection drops because of the Private Wi-Fi address settings. If I turn it to the rotating settings, connection drops in a couple of minutes. Fixed settings just work for a couple of hours. Each drops, I must reconnect. I think it is some kind of bug because I never get any issue on first release of the OS.

Updated to 15.1 and have noticed that the Messages app is quite laggy when typing sizeable responses. Anyone else noticing this issue too?
I just wrote a long(ish) message and noticed the same thing. Good to know that it's not just me.

Does anyone from Apple read the Feedback Assistant posts? I am pretty sure, that it is a scam.. That it is not online for Apple developers..

Why is safari now not working using tile snapping one to the left then right crashes

Safari isn't crashing for me with window tiling. Did you previously use Magnet or a 3rd party tiling app before? If you create a new user account, does it still happen?

Has anyone else noticed that Spotlight no longer reliably launches apps? While it works for Apple's own apps, it “forgets” third-party apps it launched just the day before. 🙄

I did have bettertouchtool but removed it when macOS 15 came out and it was fine, I haven’t made a new account I don’t really want to, it’s strange tho
