Hope 8GB is also dead on the Airs. I'd def get Nanotexture with it if it comes with it. At least that cost is going to a nice upgrade instead of an almost necessary RAM omission fix lol.
Apple already updated all the Macs to 16GB including the current M2 and M3 MBA. The next hurdle is getting them to upgrade the storage to 512GB base.

Hopefully it will get a RAM bump up to max of 64GB, 24 isn't enough for power users, multi-tasking, video editing.
At that point, you're better off with a MacBook Pro, which goes up to 128 GiB.

The Air will likely go to 32. Honestly, that ceiling seems fine for me for the Air.

The M4 maxes out at 32GB of DRAM. You need to move to an M4 Max to get to 64GB of DRAM. For the target market, 24-32GB of DRAM is plenty. Regarding 24GB of DRAM, it is also plenty for power users, multitasking and video editing.
How do you know what is plenty of ram for power users?

I really like the form factor of the 15 but I don't like how dim it is. SO very hopeful it will be brighter any ideas?

For video editing, even if, hypothetically, the MacBook Air had 64GB of RAM, problems could arise from CPU heat due to lack of a fan. Desktop Macs are best for video editing, but if you need the portability of a laptop, then a MacBook Pro would be an OK choice since they have a fan.

By multitasking I mean someone like a teammate who uses tons of browser windows and tabs, 100s,
Sounds like someone needs to learn about saved tab groups. I work with upward of 100 tabs at my job, managing a bunch of separate projects. BUT, I have each project set up with a set of saved tabs so I keep open one or maybe two windows and just use the saved groups to instantly jump between projects. It's seriously a lifesaver.

I think this update just bricked my 2018 MBP. It’s been stuck about a quarter of the way thru “This update will take several minutes to complete and the screen will turn off for up to a minute.” it’s been stuck here for an hour. 🥹

Fingers crossed this slight delay on MacBook Air getting M4 is because the MacBook Air is getting colours like the iMac has! Sure would be nice to get those vibrant awesome colours in the portable line

iPads have colours, iPhones have colours, iMacs have colours

Even though I knew that March/April would be the timeframe for release on the M4 Air line, there was still a teeny tiny part of me that was hoping for a surprise release before the end of the year.

My wife really needs a new MacBook as she's starting a Masters degree program in January and her 2019 Air is really starting to show its age. The other night when she was enrolling it was noticeably slow.

I have tried suggesting a base model M4 MacBook Pro to her, but she really prefers the thin/lighter profile of the Airs.

Alas, I'll probably just get her a slightly spec bumped (24GB/1TB) M3 Air. Really that will be more than adequate for her.

I’m surprised they’re going with the M4 on the Air and wondered if they’d go M5 instead seeing as the 4 will be ~1 year old by the time of release.
