Reporting in...

My M4 Mac Mini Pro 64/2 GB survived the upgrade, rebooted 5 times.
Siri and Apple AI is STILL OFF, since from day one of installation, end of last year.

I updated M1 MBP to 15.6 and I see:
System Firmware Version: 11881.140.96
OS Loader Version: 11881.140.96

Maybe it depends on the Mac/M-Version. Even on 26.0 Beta 4 I always had those 11881 numbers for both.

I see same versions (11881.140.96) on M3 Air. Might it be that some devices are updated to different firmware versions?

Same time post. :) You also see both numbers are still the same?

I wonder what this new Firmware has changed on my Mac.

Edit: Not sure if it's a M4 thing or Pro/Max/Ultra or even what type of Mac it is. I just put both in the first post.

Then it might be really specific - only for 14-core M4 Pro or even specific Mac model. That has possibly happened before...

I have an M4 Pro Mac Mini and I've seen two issues since upgrading to 15.6 this morning:

  • When I make a screenshot it doesn't appear in the lower right-hand part of the screen anymore. Now, it just automatically saves to the desktop and doesn't give me the opportunity to send it to the clipboard instead.
  • iPhone Mirroring is slow, flaky, and has quit multiple times. (Please see the screenshot.)

I haven't noticed any other issues. However, it didn't secretly enable Apple Intelligence like it did for a previous release.

OK, found out that the Show Floating Thumbnail option had been disabled. 🤷‍♂️ So, that's working again. And after a reboot iPhone Mirroring seems to be OK. 🤞

EDIT: Added the second sentence.

15.6 has been a bit of disaster.

1. Many of the program extensions which I use were disabled.

2. When I tried to enable them I was told to change startup security options

3. When I booted into recovery mode and got to the security utility it told me to change security options I had to boot into recovery mode ....

Edited: the 2nd time it worked. But still struggling to get some programs working again such as SoundID.

When looking at Tahoe beta 4 thread I see that same system firmware version there (13822.0.233). If you had Tahoe beta 4 on your actual machine (instead of having virtual machine), then it looks like system firmware on your Mac Mini got updated by that - and going back to Sequoia does not downgrade it back.

P. S. I see that note on firmware version in Tahoe beta 4 first post is made by you. Maybe we found the source of this mystery about non-matching version numbers :)

Thanks. :) Yes, I mostly was the first one in those threads who inserted it. Strange that I didn't notice it back then already. Seems I have to change it again here. 🙃

Apple have somehow broken iPod sync below and including the iPod Gen4 (classic) and related Minis in 15.4 and haven’t bothered to fix it this time around either.

I know, legacy devices and all, but they are working great, and I for one think it’s embarassing for Apple when Windows is now a better platform for using Apple legacy tech.
