So, I set up the VPN on my home server and plugged it into my internet router, so it has a direct connection to the Internet. I installed the VPN profile on a couple devices, including an iPad and a Mac. I can connect just fine.

The question I have, is whether I should expect to see my server's IP address or my local IP address when I query it while connected to the VPN? Googling "what is my IP" gives me the same answer before and after connecting to the VPN.

That seems to suggest that the traffic isn't being routed through the VPN, doesn't it?

You have it configured to do split tunneling, which is to only encrypt data to the home network. You will need to configure it to do full tunneling, which encrypts everything.

It’s MacOS Server 5.4 (High Sierra). L2TP as far as I can tell.

Anybody know the trick to enable full tunneling? There’s an option on Mac to use the VPN for all traffic, but I don’t see the option on the server configuration, or in iOS...

On the Mac, when I turn it on, I can’t get through. I’m guessing there’s no DNS available through the tunnel.
