Additional Notes

  • Please know, Memory Management has always been an issue on any OS (not just Apple's). If you believe there is a Memory Leak, please go to the Apple Menu > Restart > Restart to fix it.
  • When a new macOS release comes out, all issues automatically go to "Untested Issues" until they are moved by someone. Issues that stay in Untested for 3 releases (beta or smooth) will be removed from all future threads. When there is a new macOS release, please be sure to let us know about the issue's status by moving it to either "Remaining Issues" or "Resolved Issues"
  • macOS 14 Sonoma will be installed via a Delta Update in System Settings. Please be aware about this and the update won’t install with an installer.
  • macOS 14 is officially supported on the following devices. If your device is not listed below, it has unfortunately been dropped by Apple. Any efforts of trying to get your Mac running macOS 14, including bugs should be discussed in this thread.

I just updated my macbook pro i7 2020 16,2 and I'm getting spontaneous reboots. I've rebooted into "Prevent Login Items from opening" (Shift key after clicking "Login") and I appear to be okay, at least for now.

Anyone else having this issue?

I was unable to upgrade directly from 14.5 to 14.6 on all four of my Macs -- Intel, M1, M2, and M3. The download kept failing, even though my wired net connection was working normally. I finally nuked the M2 by reformatting, installed 14.6, then restored from TM backup. Then I discovered that 14.6.1 had dropped on the same day I did this, and I was unable to upgrade to it for the same reason as above.

Even worse, 14.6 was buggy. USB drives randomly disconnected continuously, and so did the internet and my other USB connections. My backlit keyboard was actually strobing as it went on and off, and the mouse was no better.

Long story short, my solution was to download the installer from the App Store on a different machine and just run the app to install 14.6.1, which seems to run okay so far. So now all four Macs are running with 14.6.1. What a nightmare, though. This is the worst experience I've had with Macs in 15 years.

Anyway, the only issue I've noticed is that USB external drives will still disconnect at times, but not nearly as often as before. It's possible there's a setting to fix this, but I haven't pursued it yet.

Just updated our MBA M2 and Studio M2 Max from 14.5 to 14.6.1. Zero problems, completely smooth. External Thunderbolt LaCie SSDs and CalDigit dock are purring

I have found an issue in the video engine in OCLP-Sonoma, tested in Davinci Resolve, under the HDR controls in video edit. In OCLP (all versions)-Ventura there is no issue and works fine. Can be reproduced the issue in the video in the link below. My device is an iMac 14,2 27" with a Graphics card GeForce GTX 780M 4GB. Only happens in Sonoma drivers, you can test it here:
Seems to be related to Metal engine, same Mac but running Windows 11 under Bootcamp with proper drivers downloaded with bootcamp assistant working fine (but with OpenCL). I had to downgrade to Ventura to work properly. Anyone can help?

Latest update has pretty much removed the stuttering and sudden jump of the cursor on my Magic Trackpad that shipped with my iMac M3. This is on a new iMac M3, 24GB/2TB/4port/8-10 that I did an Erase All Contents and settings. No migration of data.

Experiencing audio issues on my iMac 5K (2019). Message chimes are "scratchy" and disjointed and video/music sound playback is choppy, eventually fading to nothing.
