macOS Sonoma External Drive Mounting

With macOS Ventura, sometimes my external self-powered Time Machine drive takes a while to mount on the desktop.

Anyone know if this has been fixed in Sonoma?

if it's not broken for all (or most) how can it be fixed? it's an issue you're experiencing, and no one here can tell you if it will (or won't) be better in sonoma. could be an issue with your mac's power manager, or... something else...

No, it's not. APFS rotational volumes are notoriously slow to mount.
