Yeah... :(

Mostly the same problem with my M4 Mac mini here... I do manage to install the beta on a usb drive (I tried 2 different ones, a usb 3.0 and usb 3.2 drives respectively), run the OOBE up to account creation ( I little slow, but at the same time, an expected behaviour since it's working from a usb drive), then after a while, it becomes a black screen with only the cursor, hanging there.

Rebooting from the boot picker on to the internal drive does not work and still boots on to the external drive that has the beta on (hanging again with only the cursor on a black screen). Removing the external drive before powering on my Mac makes my Mac boot loop and I can't even access the boot picker! (I get no screen and it is shutting down after a while pressing the power button in hope of getting the boot picker)

The only way to save it is to revive the Mac mini from another computer...

I wonder what is the root cause of that problem? Anyone got the same problem?
I can install it but then when it reboots, it shows the Apple logo 4 times and then nothing, it tells me that I have to try the recovery mode.
In my opinion this first beta doesn't work very well

I think the Mac experience is really smooth however on my MacBook Pro m3 pro the battery life is pretty terrible on the beta.

Maybe have a look at Activity Monitor. I had up to 25% CPU usage when doing nothing.

There was a Creative audio driver using very much CPU and also the a FileProvider process for Proton Drive, that also crashed often.

I uninstalled the driver and closed the Proton Drive synch app for now and am back to normal. At the moment it's 7-8% CPU with only using Safari and having Firefox Nightly next to it, with several YouTube tabs open.

I wonder why all efficiency cores are permanently much warmer (around 60 Celsius instead of 45) than in 15.5 although the CPU usage is back to 6-8% when almost idle, what is the same value as before the update. Performance Cores heat is also up from 40 to 59 but only for cores 6-10, 1-5 are all at 40 degrees Celsius. And the Mini always feels warm.

I think the minimum for the cores was always E=40 and P=45. With light tasks it never changed.

WindowServer and GPU is jumping around very much at the moment. Up to 40% GPU usage. Yesterday it was constantly at 0% GPU when only writing here.

Finder is crashing when turning on or off Dark Mode manually. This started today in the early morning. Can't remember having this the days before. It's also not always, but both times I changed it today. Just tried it again and it didn't crash.

ok yikes! so that happened to my M4 Air a year and a half ago. I had to call dev support. They couldn't do anything. The only that could be done was to take it in store and have them rebuild the OS from another machine.

As a side note, this was right before my year warranty was up and they wrote it up like that. I was able to add Apple Care at the store so now even if it does fail or a break it, I can get a new machine.

But look actually the problem is only with Beta 1 because I installed Sequoia on the external disk and it started without problems.
I'm thinking it's a problem with the beta that was released.
I'll wait for the public release.

I just replied to this. I called support over a year ago and the only thing I could do was take it in to be restored in case it was a bad motherboard or something. They restored from another machine and I restored from a backup in store and everything has been good since. Since I have an M4 Air, after reading this, I may pause on installing the beta even though yours is a mini.

I also got Apple Care right before the warranty ran out as a bonus just in case.

Make sure you write that up and send it to Feedback. Mine was acknowledged back then. They flagged it as priority.

I have some doubts

In macOS Sequoia, when using Graphite as theme, selection, the minimise, close, etc buttons will all use the Graphite colour, but in macOS Tahoe it does not

Is anyone else having a problem with Contacts. When I launch the app, I get a blank window. I've restarted, force-quit the app, etc. My contacts themselves are fine, per every other app and device that accesses them. I wonder if a Library file disappeared or moved or something. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Ah, good. Apple are finally catching up.

Can you post a screenshot of what the Terminal looks like by default now? Thanks.
Catching up to what? Dark text on a light background has been normal for at least a few millennia now.

Mail still does not convert html mail to dark mode. I guess I will continue to use MS Outlook which does it seamlessly. I realize that I need an extension in Safari, but all us visually impaired people, thank you Microsoft (and other email apps)!!

The biggest loss to me is Launchpad. While I open a LOT of apps using Cmd+Space, a lot of the time I can't remember an app's name, so I used Launchpad.

Now I have a postage-stamp Spotlight window, where I have to hit "Show More" to see anything. I can't make folders, so it's clogged up with Uninstall apps. By default it was even clogged up with my iPhone apps, which I had to also disable. What a mess.

Steve Jobs always had a philosophy that you should have no more than 3 clicks to do anything. Whoever works at Apple now needs to remember this, or quite frankly, get fired. This is a travesty.
Totally agree 1000%... what's the purpose of an app that opens a spotlight search or a folder.. Launchpad was great because you could put into your first page all your fav apps and launch Launchpad with hot corners.. 1 move of the mouse and 1 click.. so simple, so quick, so handy!
