I hate the new Messages sidebar with all the conversations. The column isn't wide enough to show everyone's names. I absolutely hate it.

Yeah this is trash. You can't adjust the left pane very easily...it's either narrow or narrow af. When it's narrow af only the icons of the chats are visible. Aren't they supposed to make improvements with beta iterations? Roll it back. Feedback sent.

My macOS Photos App Library doesn't seem to want to sync anymore. I've tried sudo killall bird and have restarted.. Syncing fine on iPhone and iPad and on my Mac mini running macOS 15.7.1

Still baffled as to why they allow a hard drive enclosure to be clearly metal in nature, yet the Mail icon envelope is glass… Maybe glass envelopes are better for the environment?
Dunno, but i like the one on the right more. Those ports on previous one didn’t make much sense. If you don’t know what to put there, better put nothing

How are people faring on M1 variant Macs on this beta? Are you feeling like you're being forced into a therman/performance/battery corner or are you bullish on your Mac lasting a few more years again?

I'm on my M1 14" MacBook Pro, bought in June of 2022.

This is, by far, the best running version of MacOS 26 I have experienced. My Mac feels like it did on Sequoia again, sometimes faster - maybe even close to Sonoma? I was having SO many frame drops, stutters, the works on the previous betas - almost entirely gone. Everything feels like it hits the ProMotion frame rate and smoothness.

Not sure if memory management has been improved too, but having more than 10 windows open across 2 desktops no longer causes miserable slowdowns like it did in betas 1 and 2.

I had noticeably worse battery life and thermals in Beta 2, which is one of the only updates where I've ever seen my fans turn on while idling. Gone in Beta 3.

As a final year college student, I've never had worries about this machine making it through all 4 of my years in school, but I did have concerns about life with it afterwards. Now... maybe I'm naive, but this feels really, really good.

Brother you are making me breath a little easier. Thanks for the report. I assume by previous betas you're including 26.0, yeah? Whats your current uptime if you don't mind me asking. If you wanna know easily just open terminal and say uptime.

Glad I can help! I'm a fairly light/moderate user, so I can't speak for everyone, but yeah, been great for me. 67% left after streaming music and web browsing + coding for about 2.5 hours on 75%+ brightness. Battery health of 85% fwiw.

Yes, since 26.0 DB 3. Didn't use the machine much until DB6 or 7 or so.

Here's the uptime stats:

Great news. I pray this stability and performance makes it through to 26.1 release. We need it. 26.0 is trash.

When closing Teams, the "working in background" black dot will not go away... Can't force quit since it does not appear there, nor is it to be found in Activity Monitor.
Tiny flaw, but it troubles my eyes !

M1 (2020), 16 GB

Yep same. Beta 2 was great. This beta version is like the third movie in a sequel, just not as good lol.

Yeah, I'm seeing all sorts of odd regressions and issues with this release. Oh well.. Only a couple days to go I suppose.

Adding my 2nd cents. I didn't want to roll back due to the lengthy process. I took a chance, turned on Beta updates (Public), installed Beta 26.1 and all my issues are resolved. Evernote, Teams, Outlook, wifi calling through FaceTime app all working perfect and the whole OS is very smooth! I now turned off beta updates and lesson learnt - never to blindly upgrade to a .0 or .1 version

Awesome to hear. What machine are you on?

After installing Beta 3, I have what I consider a strange issue. When some programs are opened, used, and then quit, the icon remains in the dock as if still open. When clicked, it displays "Running in the Background".

i saw that a few days ago with logic pro; rebooted, and not had the problem again (yet).

Ive had a couple persistent dock citizens. The app seems to be closed but when I force quit and relaunch the dock it goes away. Seems like more of a dock issue than an app issue
