If the T2 challenge is not remedied, they won't be usable starting from the fact that the SSD won't be accessible at all. It may be possible to circumvent it with an external disk but that's not a good solution.
Thanks again for your quick and thorough reply. If you don't mind a follow-up, does the currently supported MacBook Pro (Intel, 16‑inch, 2019) use T2 as the SSD controller and if so, what is the difference between the supported controller in the MBP16,1 and the MacMini8,1? Does the fact that Tahoe supports MBP16,1 offer any hope for the MM8,1? Sorry for what might be a naive question.

Maybe a tad OT, but to at least partially answer your question I am using a MBP 16" 2019 with no OCLP with Sequoia and Tahoe betas and I do know that the T2 does the SSD disk encryption if that is what you are asking.
It also does the touch bar and TouchID sensor via the Bridge OS that runs off a hidden efi partition.

Not OT - that's exactly what I'm getting at. ... well, maybe not exactly, but close enough.

There may also be firmware differences. I basically just told what I've heard other devs say as I'm not part of the development process itself, just maintaining the guide here and there plus testing.

Anyway, yes to my knowledge every T2 machine is using it as the SSD controller (for security purposes) and it's partly the reason why the NANDs were soldered, though from which they've now backtracked a little with Apple Silicon desktops where the NANDs are removable PCBs but the controller is now inside the main SoC as they could integrate all the T2 functionality into it. This is why you still can't shove an off-the-shelf SSD with a built-in controller into Apple Silicon Macs.

I think for further information of how things work it's better to wait what the actual devs have to say as they look into it.

What about full graphics support?
Graphics support is apparently available.

Despite the questionable action on Reddit, yesterday I replaced last week's "hybrid" OCLP-mod combination on my iMac 18.3 with the OCLP 3.0.0-Nightly. So - something's happening within the dev team. 👍

OCLP3.0.0n-01.png
Result: LAN works - Wi-Fi & Audio are still missing.

OCLP3.0.0n-02.png
The host OS is still recognized as unsupported.

The Wi-Fi hardware is recognized, ....

WLAN-01.png
..., but can't find a network to connect to.

WLAN-02.png
No device is detected for audio.

I don't know yet whether I'll integrate the Laobamac mod again.

Hi, how did you download OCLP Nightly 3.0.0? I can only download Nightly 2.4.0, because I wanted to try installing Tahoe on my old 2015 MacBook Pro. The update from Sequoia goes well, but there is no way to get the keyboard and trackpad to work when it gets to the login screen, even if I connect other peripherals via USB, such as a mouse and keyboard.

You can do it just like I did years ago when I started using OC or OCLP:You go to this page ....

..., register, then log in and search the Guthub for interesting information, including OCLP versions – Nightly or releases.
If you're especially kind to the developers, a small donation would be appreciated – just as I do when using shareware.

Good luck.

And don't be too stingy with your donation. OCLP extends the use of your Mac and current macOS for many years. ;)

Great @dhinakg! You are now our main hero! Thank you very much!
Too bad we don't know your face and your story, while we know your good friend and OCLP co-founder, Mykola Grymalyuk aka @khronokernel.
Seeing on YouTube the passion and enthusiasm with which Mykola approaches a conference is very reminiscent of the first Steve Jobs... :)
We are all with you and I wish you the best of luck in joining Apple, because the good you and Mykola could do from the inside, helping Apple maintain and grow the goodness, seriousness, ideals and purity of its beginnings, would far outweigh the benefit of having OCLP.
🙏❤️

@hvds I used OCLP 2.4.0 to generate your MBP5,2 USB-Map.kext and made the changes that I think are necessary. Does the attached work for you?
Is OpenCore 1.0.5 beta absolutely necessary to adapt and change the USB-Map.kext or
will the current OpenCore 1.0.4 also work?

"...helping Apple maintain and grow the goodness, seriousness, ideals and purity of its beginnings..."
Are you sure we are talking about the same company... goodness, seriousness, ideals, purity...? Apple??? Apple makes very good products no doubt, but I think profit (lots of it) comes up as dominant in its main aims. Not that that's a bad thing, but...

OCLP Tahoe support MrMac video:

After several failures and a lot of time renewing, I decided I would wait till an official upgrade came out. Then I watched this video, he is using the exact same Imac I have. I am looking for 3.0 and the video probably will lead me to it, very tempting, glad I have a good TM backup.

You say well, friend; and I agree with you. 🤗
However, I want to put the Hope above all else otherwise the world will not soon arrive at total happiness... despite Silicon M4, M6, M100 and all those that will follow: Pro, Ultra or Extreme that is...
So I wished that a small and simple man, with a good heart, as @khronokernel appears (if you look him up on the net or read his Blog although unfortunately he has taken down his story since childhood) and others like him, could help graft a very small seed of goodness into the IT (Apple or not Apple) but which, like many seeds, will grow and become a big tree.

OCLP 3.0.0 nighlty Root Patch disable metalib.pkg download ?

Hello to all,

iMac 13,2 - late 2012 and metal capable.

Installed Tahoe 26 beta2 on a volume (not partition) on an external drive; internal drive, the original Fusion HDD, was greyed out in the target listing offered by installer (?)

Which method worked:
I borrowed a page from playbooks by HDVS, Deeveedee, oldluckyman, and of course developers.

Created new volume (not partition) on external SSD.
Installed Sequoia 15.5 on the new volume on the external drive, but did not patch it. OTA Software update, for some reasons, routinely fails to initiate or complete when patches are applied.

Next step was to secure OCLP 3.0.0 nightly, and replace both, OCLP 2.4 EFI and OCLP 2.4 application with the OCLP 3.0.0 nightly versions of same items. Again, no patching was executed due to potential for software update failure.

Initiated OTA installation of Tahoe 26 beta2 over the 15.5 sequoia. Process was glacial, but did result in functional login window and allowed boot onto the desktop.

Noted many graphical artifacts, with iconservicesagent maxing out the CPU usage; on several occasions I force-quit that process with Activity Monitor to allow other processes to complete.

Attempted to patch installation with OCLP 3.0.0 nightly, but process failed with message: “Unsupported host OS” and greyed out “Start Root patching “ selection button.

Unpatched, Tahoe 26 beta2 does allow Ethernet connection, but WiFi is inactive. Bluetooth is functional. Safari works and connects to internet. There are, however, many graphic artifacts and, of course, no graphics acceleration.

I will try installing Tahoe on the non-metal capable 2009 MacBook Pro; a dedicated KDK for Tahoe is available on the Apple developer site.

Congratulation to the development teams and testers. Overall good beginning for such an early foray into the Tahoe beta2 territory.

Hope this information may be of help

Did manage to get install on my Mac mini 2014 with one on the nightly OCLP updates mostly just done for fun and to try. Bluetooth mouse and windows keyboard working. Clean install would crash after completing the setup as others have found going up from sequoia using the full installer no signing into iCloud walk away make a cup of tea waiting for the desktop to fully appear. Will be interesting to see if we will ever be able to do a clean install of Tahoe but again early days in the unsupported cycle .

After spending considerable effort completely wiping the internalHD and SSD, and now having Seq on the internal and Monterey on the SSD, in preparation for 3.0.0, I can now watch the Changelog for changes, I am not ready yet to install Tahoe. I am still searching for the 3.0.0 nightly download.

What do you mean, you can't find anything to click on?
Can't you download the files or something?
You have to register them on GitHub, of course, and then you can download the things you want.
Are you a beginner or something?
