MacPaw today released a redesigned version of CleanMyMac, its long-running Mac optimization and maintenance software. The update introduces a new interface and expanded functionality, aiming to provide a more comprehensive set of tools for Mac care.

The revised CleanMyMac now features six main modules and over 25 tools for various maintenance tasks. A new assistant offers Mac health and security reports and maintenance reminders, while an updated My Clutter module helps users manage storage by identifying large, old, and duplicate files.

Other changes include grouped application permissions in the Protection module for easier privacy management, and a redesigned menu bar utility that aims to improve system monitoring and resource usage.
"This update isn't just about a fresh look — it's about giving users the tools they need to care for their Macs effortlessly," said MacPaw CEO Oleksandr Kosovan. "We're combining smart tech with an intuitive design, setting the stage for better security, faster performance, and a cleaner, clutter-free experience."
The new CleanMyMac is available as a subscription starting at $39.95 per year or as a one-time purchase from $119.95 (prices may vary by region). Existing CleanMyMac and Setapp subscribers will receive the upgrade for free, while previous one-time license owners can upgrade with up to a 50% discount.

MacPaw plans to add more features in 2025, including improvements to storage visualization and file organization. The company is also developing a business version of CleanMyMac, with a waiting list open for early testing.

The new version requires macOS 11 or later and a minimum screen resolution of 1280x800 pixels. CleanMyMac can be purchased from MacPaw's website, the Mac App Store, or through the Setapp subscription service.

Free, works great, has been actively maintained for many years:

Though as many have pointed out, macOS does its own maintenance scripts so you don't really need to be actively futzing with stuff, clearing caches, etc.

I do use OnyX sometimes to tweak some little Finder settings, but I don't think any of this is essential.

The way I look at this type of software is if it was really necessary Apple would have included it already. macOS, formerly Mac OS X, had a lot of holes when it came out in 2001. One of the last missing pieces was window snapping & Apple just took care of that.
Exactly what you said. Not sure why people really think they need this software. No, you don’t.

1) Buy a version with at least 16GB Ram
2) you should never use the app CleanMyMac
3) update to a new OS when it gets to X.4 version or later. Until the last OS gets to X.4 you should only install updates for your current OS version. (usually shown in a tiny square below the last version of OS in the Update sections on your System configuration)

Stay far away from this. Sure it cleans up stuff, I guess, but it made my Mac run so much worse until I deleted it. Mac’s don’t need junk like this.
I beg to differ. It’s a fantastic tool to keep things running smoothly, and very useful for ensuring software is fully updated and/or removed. I have been using it for years on multiple machines.

With great power comes great responsibility...

I used this tool and removed languages I needed and messed up my system.
I've also used this tool and saved so much space in more of an expert mode instead of just clicking 'clean'. That never works.

My parents were the opposite. They used to constantly ask me to speed up their Macs. I got them this and never heard another word about their Macs being slow. Literally never, and it's been years now.

Don't understand all the "hate" the program is getting. It is a super well-functioning program, with a lot of functions gathered in one program instead of a lot of small programs. One thing is the cleaner function, which works fine - I run it myself once a month and remove quite a few GB. In addition, it has a malware scanner, also super nice. In addition, it makes it easy to find large files or uninstall programs without leaving a trace. I have never experienced any problems using it.

I know that many of the functions are found in individual programs that are free, for example AppCleaner for uninstalling programs - I also know that you can clean up manually, completely free. But this program does it with 1 click and I don't have to worry about whether I delete the right files. In addition, I love the function in the status bar, where I can see the battery status of my iPhone, and other connected bluetooth, do wi-fi speed tests and a lot of other useful functions. But above all, I love that it is all gathered in 1 program, and that is one of the reasons why I choose to pay for it.

All those tasks - are they necessary now that Apple has not added the functions themselves. Is it necessary to delete all traces after uninstalling a program, is it necessary to delete a lot of cache files after a month, is it necessary to use a malware scanner, is it necessary to update all programs with 1 click, etc., etc. No, but it's nice to be able to do it.
