LG H20L Not working

I connected a LG H20L to one of the ODD ports and the stock HDD to the other ODD ports on my new 2008 Mac Pro. I installed data disks on the other 4 bays. The machine booted up fine, just as if the original drive was still in bay 1. I saw the power lights on the LG H20L light up, and I heard it spin. I can not eject it though. I have tried the option+ eject key, the eject key etc. When I look in system profiler I see the hdd model number under one of the sata controllers, but I do not see any other driver detail. Powering on and off did not help. I read in this string that the ports only work for HDD's... is that true?

It was the sata cable

My issue with no eject ended up being a cable issue. Swapped the cable, and presto eject works

I flashed the stock Optiarc 7170-A in the machine from firmware 1.N8 to Liggy's 1.02c which I got here. and it definitely helped speed the thing up.

My early 2008 Mac Pro Optiarc AD-7170A has a 1.NC firmware. I don't see a modded 1.NC firmware anywhere on the Liggy & Dee site.

The stock firmwares are riplocked right? I'd love to unriplock mine, but I'm not sure what strategies I might lose if I flashed with a non-1.NC modded firmware.
