Hi everybody, it happens to find 2 mac pros, on flea market for about 50 usd each. First is 3,1 and the second is 4,1 without memory, hdd and graphic card. 3,1 has also missing the riser cards which I found on ebay at 40usd with 4 gb ram on them. I bought a graphic card for pc, hd5770 and I reflash with the help of netkas community. All went smoothly and get the boot screen. I try to configure the 3,1 and install all the softwares on it. I make an usb stick with el capitan and install from scratch. All went good until I get the white screen of death. After that I can boot only on safe mode. I've tried everything, but cannot boot normally. I noticed that if I install snow leopard from dvd it installs normally and the computer boot normally. If I try to make update all went good until10.6.8. After 10.6.8 update I get the white screen of death. I've tried to install mavericks, yosemite and el capitan from scratch with the same result, white screen. I even tried the mac pro 4,1 with the same graphic card and the same result. I install windows 7 on macpro 3,1 and seem to work ok, test the graphic card on windows and has no issues. I run apple hardware test and no problem found. Please help, can anyone tell me how can I solve this thing. Thank you.

Disconnect all wired and wireless (Bluetooth) peripherals except your keyboard, mouse, and anything else necessary to reboot.
1) Try a safe boot: boot with holding SHIFT
2) Try Zapping the PRAM (NVRAM) and do a SMC reset.
3) PRAM: boot while holding command + option + p + r until the Mac reboots:
SMC:
  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Unplug your Mac's power cord.
  3. Press and hold the Mac's power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. Reconnect your Mac's power cord.
  6. Wait five seconds.
  7. Start your Mac by pressing the power button.

Good luck.

Hi, thanks for your answer. Ive tried all single commands from this site and no joy. Ive install again snow leopard, it works good, but after updating at 10.6.8, it boots up but very slow. Even when try to move the mouse and reach a menu item the screen freeze for about 10sec or so. If boot in safe mode all seem to be ok. In el capitan only white screen. In safe mode also in el capitan seem to be ok.

Thank you for your answers, I will try to change the battery and also will try another graphic card to see if will change something and I will report. Also I see on netkas forum someone with the same graphic card like mine and he post the modified flash and I compare with mine and was identical. He post that it works without issues, so I think that cannot be the card but I will replace it to be sure.

Yeah is definitely a graphics card issue. I change the battery, same story. I try to isolate the issue and see if I erase the AMDRadeonX3000.kext from System/Library/Extensions, I can boot on normal mode but no sound and of course no graphic acceleration. May be I will try to flash another efi for this card. I can understand that I have no acceleration, but why no sound?
edit
sound is working, was from system preferences

Hi again, I am struggling with my macpro and no success until now. I flashed back to original my xfx hd 5770 and after that mac os is booting but I have no image even after boot. I have the driver AMDRadeonX3000.kext erased, may be that's why I have no image even after boot. With the flash made from 5770_vervet_netkas.efi I have also no image. Only with the flash made from 5770MOD2.efi.rom I have boot immage but the driver is not working properly. I attached my flashes, the original flash, 5770my.rom, the working flash, 5770mac1.rom and the non working flash, 5770mac.rom. My card is: HD-577A-ZNFA

Still not solve anything, and searching for a solution. I flash my card back to original and notice that it not working on el capitan OOB. May be the driver from apple is not good for this particular card. Also when I install windows, from bootcamp , the graphic card is crashing the system with the driver provided by apple. If I use the driver from amd site , the system works good. I think the flash for efi is working properly but the driver for this card is no good. I use a flash made by Fl0r!an.
