I know this has been covered before and Im very late to the party, so forgive me for repeating info but is there a safe method of installing these CPU's without de-lidding them?

...Or anyone with more skill than me prepare to help install 2 x 3.33Ghz chips in my MacPro.
    Thanks in advance.

I just delidded and installed two X5680's a couple of weeks ago, and it wasn't as scary as it was pent up to be. I really do recommend users consider this option over the more riskier lidded process (from what I've read). Stuffing up a CPU is far way less costly than wrecking the CPU tray.

I've been following all of the methods used for the dual 2009 CPU upgrade and I'd have to say there is no 100% safe method. In my opinion the safest delidded method is the vice, and the safest lidded method is the washer stack. But there is still potential for problems either way.

If you are okay with the risk and want to proceed anyway, I will take the time to write up rough instructions that you would perform at your own risk. (I'm willing to help, but I don't want any responsibility.)
