Hi there.
I have a faulty CPU board on the above MacPro. The computer shuts down when pushed very little.
I've taken the CPU's out and checked the board. All I've found so far is ,black 330 e17 caps that are testing short and what looks like a mosfets or regulator thats testing short on three legs and to the back also. Has four legs in total. That bits quite small. Has anyone had any success in repairing these boards. Looks like a hot air job. Maybe remove some nearby silver caps beforehand.
I have two like this altogether. They both did it ,one after the other. I swapped to the one I'm using now and it's very similar in how it behaves. This one is 2 x 3.46 but you wouldn't think it ,at all. I've not checked the board on this one yet ,It might be the same problem.
I'll post a photo later on. The part isn't surrounded so that might help in removal and installing another one ,if I can get it.
Cheers.
