hey guys, I got my mac pro 2.8ghz 8 core just 2 weeks ago and so far after I put it to sleep and in the morning, the mac pro will restart instead of waking up~ Sometimes it will wake up and sometimes it will restart, also it froze on me a few times where I had to manually turn it off and turn it back on.

Do you guys think that I should exchange it or just wait for the 10.5.2?? Other than those, everything seems to work great. I honestly think its some glitch from the leopard 10.5.1, its so unstable!!

Awwwww! Dang it. Did you do like some others have posted and turn off the energy saving features in System Preferences?
I reset the PRAM after it did it yesterday morning, and this morning it was fine. Think I will put a call in to Apple though in case it starts becoming a real issue and I want a replacement. It's bull**** that on the most expensive computer Apple make you should have to deal with crap like this. I wouldn't mind, but it's clearly not an isolated incident and stuff like this should have been easily caught if they actually had any quality control.

I ordered a Mac Pro 2.8 dual + 8800GT + Wireless stuff yesterday. I received confirmation and checked the expected delivery timescales. 22nd Feb the same (probably) as everyone else with the 8800GT.

My guess is that Apple are aware of these issues detailed here and is desperatly trying to get 10.5.2 done and I fell that it will also have some latest drivers for the 8800GT.

My first mac (mini) was purchased on the day of launch in Regents St, London. The reason for the purchase was simple. To gain a better understanding of OSX and ensure I could live with it, before stumping out for a Pro Tower. After I upgraed the Mini ram to 1gb, it was a nice machine. I loved OSX (coming from 15+ years of Microsoft background) and had to have a high end machine.

I, like most others around here am like a kid at xmas. I am very much looking forward to my first "real" mac. I will be dual booting this machine, Windows = games, OSX for everything else.

Once we see 10.5.2 released into the wild, I have a feeling we could start to see our dream machines coming home soon. To all those having problems, lets hope the next os release fixes these issues for you. Personally after spending £1909 on a high end workstation (Mac Pro) I also expect it to 'just work'. That is the reputation that Apple has built to promote in the first place.

Time to sit back and wait...

Exchange it. My guess is that the more of us that send machines back, the more the message will be sent to Apple that they need to hurry up with a fix. :(

Man, I'm sorry you're dealing with this crap too. You're absolutely right, we pay this kind of money to deal with this? The sad thing is that I think when my replacement arrives later today, it will have the same issues. Apple is pissing off a lot of dedicated customers and need to do something quick IMHO. :(

Well, the good news is that you ordered (and could wait for) a MacPro with the nVidia card. I really believe this is a rehash of the recent iMac graphics issues. It has to be an ATI/firmware deal. With that in mind, I wouldn't worry much about your baby when she arrives. ;)

Bluetooth: Not Available ??

Ok. New issue. Anyone else showing your Bluetooth is not recognizable? I have a lightning bolt through the icon on the menu bar. When you click on it, it says, "Bluetooth: Not Available." What's going on now?

Edit - Nothing better than doing a simple restart to fix the issue. Hopefully it won't be ongoing.

OK, installed 10.5.2 and computer woke successfully following an overnight sleep.

Sent computer to sleep again while I was at work... computer restarted on wake-up.

I've added this to the 10.5.2 guide page... looks like the issue isn't fixed :(

I've had the same issue and same fix.

**** this. Mac users eerily sound no different than Windows users, and that's not a good sign for me. Increasing demand on Apple is taking a toll, unless Apple's quality has always been this shoddy and it's users have just chosen to be ignorant about it.

Sorry for my language, but for a computer at the price of a used car, I expect nothing but perfection. I can understand viruses or third party applications crashing the OS, but a simple 'sleep' function? Web browsing? Video cards? All the hardware/software is hand picked by Apple or proprietary. These should not be issues! And from what I'm reading here, it is taking way too long for them to provide fixes and they don't appear to take them or their customers very seriously.

Say what you want about Microsoft, but I haven't seen this kind of behavior since Windows98 - 1st Edition, and this is after 10+ years of using their OS professionally.

I'm going to hold off on buying the MP or just build my own Linux/Windows solution for now. I'm not abandoning Apple (I still use my iBook G4 on a near daily basis and put huge value in the OS's built in UNIX core), but I'm not giving them another penny until they get their **** straightened out.
