Over the past month or so I have noticed a "noticeable" slow down of my MacPro (early 2008 - dual 2.8, 8gb ram, 8800).
It first started as just boot up/login times, but I only have one item that starts up on log in - quciksilver. Plus, I only have one user.
Then I notice web browsing in both safari and firefox has become dreadfully slow. I am constantly checking to see if my ISP is flaking out, but I am always getting consistent 10mb service, but page loads feel like 1mb service... where as file downloads seem fine.

So, I guess I am looking for some optimizing tips. I have only been a hardcore mac user for a couple years (formally windows), so I feel like I may be missing some "maintenance" items. I used to use applejack, but it no longer works in leopard - I think?
Any suggestion of things to check or do would be awesome. I'm interested in checking low level crap, command line type of things.
Thanks in advance!
