    Hello everyone,
I jsut received my MacPro yesterday(the standard config.), and I also chose to get myself a new 22" LCD that could support my Nintendo Wii at the same time, so I chose to get the LG Flatron M228WA. It's awesome, take a look!

Oh yeah, it smelt like genuine new Mac, what an awesome smell!
and since its a Macpro and it pushes out more air than, say, an iMac, it pushes out all the new mac smell around my room, so now my entire room smells like new Mac, its great!

I do plan to upgrade it, though.
My first upgrade will be 2 harddrives at 500GB each.
My second upgrade will be the 8800 Graphics card. So I can play some more-so intensive games. Right now with the Radeon 2600, it plays Bioshock on almost all high setting with resolution at 1680x1050. Which is pretty good.
After that I plan on installing some more ram from time to time.

but for now, it's an awesome system. Definately worth having to sell my iMac back before christmas and use a Windows PC till January 11th!

You better pull the MP away from the wall or you'll have heat damage on the MP...

It may not look like it, but there is about a foot of free space behind and half a foot of free space beside it. That should be enough for it, right?

You won't get heat damage. As long as the inside stays clear of dust and build up you will be fine. As soon as the heat leaves the case, convection takes over and the heat will go right up the wall. Thats why the intakes are not on the back;)

I didn't think it would be an issue.
I checked the manual and it doesn't say anywhere that it needs to be a certain distance away from the wall, or anything like that. Plus, it seems to run not as hot as some ppl would think.

You should put the Wii in its stand as it has an air intake on the bottom. Putting it flat like that is not good for it.

No way! Talk about a blow to my geek cred.

This is my 5th Mac. I switched in November of 2002, same time I joined here. This machine replaced a beloved Dual G5 Powermac.

Sorry about that. Just the way you titled your link for your unboxing pics, "my first unboxing pics ever", made it sound like you've never bought a mac before.

Ah yes, I can see how it looks now. I felt fairly ridiculous taking those shots, and I laughed at myself the whole time I was shooting. I was extremely thankful my girlfriend was out.

    :D
