16G ram, 2x 3G, QC. ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB. SSD boot. 10.13.6.
Firefox and Safari are up to date and both are very slow to open or close.
Suddenly, QuickLook/Preview isn't working in Finder for jpg or flac/mp3/ALAC, and it was last week.
No new software, hardware, update.
Ran DU and Onyx.
No change. Deleted caches for QuickLook.
Next I'll try safeboot. N/C.
It is connected to the interweb via an unmanaged tpLINK switch.
But that shouldn't effect the QuickLook

yes, thanks. well aware of OCLP as I got to HS with dosdudes patch.
Been keeping my eye out for a reasonably priced GPU that can carry the metal load on Monty.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Do you still have a volume with El Capitan or older that you can boot from for testing? It might help narrow it down to hardware or software. Even an external USB or Firewire drive could work.

Since the issues are easy to reproduce, you might also look at the Console logs, to see if there are any repeating or suspicious messages, when you experience hang-ups. Maybe ECC memory errors or the like?

It also may not be a bad idea to reseat your RAM, since 3,1s are sometimes sensitive to dust build up on the RAM risers.

Hope this helps!

I should have thought to check logs, but alas I just n&p'd instead.
It a dosdude patched 3,1, so I have a USB thumb built. Easy enough to get back up, but time-consuming.
Don't have a "supported" OS b.u.
Yea, pulled ram too. And dust on a regular basis.
