MacPro5,1 (2012) issues with installing OS X Mavericks

I recently got a 2012 Mac Pro off FB marketplace , the seller mentioned he upgraded the CPU’s , RAM (96GB) and GPU (NVIDIA GeForce GT 730). I tried to install Mavericks via a bootable USB (using Wowfunhappy’s website), and the OS loaded for a bit, froze, and then restarted.

Would this be a GPU problem ? since whilst the GPU did support Mavericks and even Mountain Lion , it needed a driver to be installed , so if it is the GPU’s case , is there a seperate install file with the drivers integrated ??

Try booting without the GPU installed to see if that's what's stopping it.

Can you try turning on verbose boot? I always forget how to do this on real Macs, but I think you hold down cmd-V at startup?

My apologies for only seeing these now!!

Anyways I don't think its a GPU issue... I tried El Capitan, which had the same issue, and Sierra refused to get to the second install phase... It only works on High Sierra onwards, (I'm running Mojave on it right now)

Freezes like that could be hard drive related - maybe try booting from a DVD or USB drive. You could even try a version of Linux to see if it fails. If it does, it is hardware related. Always first try to reseat the RAM. If Linux loads, might be a faulty hard drive or OS needs to be reinstalled.
