Reason I ask is because people have reported previously working flashed 79xx series GPU's not out putting vision on Mojave.

Gosh, they aren't making this easy.

I have a 2010 5.1 Mac Pro with Radeon 5770 1GB and a nVidia GeForce 1050Ti 3GB, which I only use through BootCamp. Can I install Mojave and if not, what steps do I have to take?

No. Your HD 5770 is not supported anymore.

Nvidia did not release any drivers supporting Mojave, yet, and Apple native cards only support Kepler ones. Yours is Pascal and unsupported by the native driver.

Thanks. So if nvidia releases new drivers, there is a potential that I could install Mojave, if I use the nvidia card under OS X?

Probably. You will need to first do the song and dance of the first post to update your BootROM to 138.0.0.0.0.

I've been procrastinating up until now and I'm still on 10.13.5 with the MP51.0084.B00 boot Rom. I have a GT120 currently installed but will upgrade to an RX580 eventually for Mojave. If I upgrade to 10.13.6 (combo update) with the GT120 installed, will that take my boot ROM to the 0089 version? I read in the OP that I'd have to download the full 10.13.6 installer for some reason after the fact. I was just confused on why that step is there.

Also, when I eventually upgrade to Mojave, would it be best to leave both the GT120 (for the boot screen) and the RX580 (for the metal support) during the installation? Then take out the GT120 after?

1) Combo update will NOT upgrade the firmware for cMP

2) Lots of users unable to upgrade to 138.0.0.0.0 if the current firmware is 0089.B00. That's why this step is there.

3) NO, you CANNOT leave the GT120 in the cMP when you run the Mojave installer. You MUST take that away.

On The Interweb Thingy!
You need to download the full installer, as this also contains the firmware update. When you run it it will ask to update the firmware before it begins the install procedure, the firmware update requires an EFI GPU to be present.

Once your firmware is updated, then you can update to Mojave. However, you will not be able to update to Mojave with the GT 120 in your system, the installation process won't start. Panic not, just pull it out and put in a Metal capable GPU (such as the RX 580) and you'll be good to go.

Edit: @h9826790 beat me to it! ;)

One thing of note is that my system will not display anything through the RX 580 when the GT 120 is in the machine. Other people seem to be able to have the two side by side, but with me it's either/or. Your mileage may vary.

Sorry, stupid question, checking the list of Apple regarding supported cards:
  • MSI Gaming Radeon RX 560 128-bit 4GB GDRR5 ==> this is EFI MAC compatible or not?
  • SAPPHIRE Radeon PULSE RX 580 8GB GDDR5 ==> this is EFI MAC compatible or not?
  • SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition ==> also flashed version?
  • NVIDIA Quadro K5000 for Mac ==> also flashed version?
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition ==> also flashed version?

Oh, I completely misunderstood then. The way Apple talks about their AMD drivers sounds like the RX580 for example supports boot screen. My bad!

Just curious - what is the 'usual' time lag for Nvidia to post new/stable web drivers after a MacOS version upgrade? Are we talking days, weeks or months?

Does any of the AMD cards Apple lists as metal-supported with Mojave support boot screens 'out of the box'?

The initial major release, usually take weeks. Point releases are fast, two days usually.

Im hoping someone can help me.
My current Bootrom is MP51.0084.B00

I've installed my stock ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB in an effort to upgrade the bootrom. I have an RX580 on order and in the meantime have removed my primary GPU which is an Nvidia GTX 760 2GB.

I've tried the link in the first post to download the full installer for 10.13.6 however it takes me straight to the Mojave installer in the Appstore. I'm based in New Zealand.

How do I go about updating the BootRom?
