What would be the benefits of not using macro mode?
That is, under what circumstances would one want to disable it?

If you are shooting a video and you don't want it to go into Macro mode, since by changing lenses, there is a slight shift in the frame.
Sometimes a close object could trigger it to go into Macro mode otherwise.

Example: filming an object that is 30 feet away through a hole in a chain-link fence, but you don't want the camera to accidentally focus on the fence.
