I donated blood on 5th April, so won't be able to do it again in May. In AU they only take you once every 12 weeks. I usually donate 3 or 4 times per year.

I would support the blood drive, but unfortunately I just donated on the 29th of April, and am not eligible again until 25 June, so I can't donate in your window.

Don't worry, your donation still counts towards the Blood Drive Honor Roll. In most areas you are eligible to donate every 2-3 months or so, so the donation time for regular donors wouldn't fit into the window of one month. Doctor Q usually takes into account donations done in March/April or June when tallying the results of the Blood Drive.

I'm signed up for Friday the 13th! Hoping it doesn't get TOO graphic...

The vampires took my 30th pint of type A- blood. Luckily it was only one pint at a time over the past 12 years.

I did this last month. I'll just go ahead and accept your collective love :)

I would happily donate but my blood isn't good enough because I'm gay.

I'm curious, do you live in California? I was under the impression that this is no longer the policy here. If it is, that's truly insane.

Thanks to all who have donated. I'm not sure why MR has two threads run if here but hey, the more the marrier.

As a blood recipient my self I am extremely grateful to those who have, are, and will be donating blood. I have seen bloos transfusions have not only save my life, but working in healthcare the lives as many others.

At 4 years old I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphobastic Leukemia, an cancer of the white blood cells. ALL is the most common pediatric cancer. Just 40-50 years ago the survival rate was 0%. Today in 2016, thanks to technology it's 80-90%. ALL and chemo have a tendency to make people anemic, so blood transfusions are a god send.

When I received my first blood transfusion the nurse explained to me that someone had donated their blood to me so I could get better. She also said I will have to thank them some day. So I'm doing that today. I don't remember a lot from that time period, but I remember that.

I encourage everyone to donate blood if and when possible. You truly save a life. Do it because you CAN.

Due to my cancer I am ineligible to donate, so I am asking those who are eligible to donate for me. In appreciation of MR's Blood Drive and your willingness, I will be donating funds to The American Red Cross.

Please know your acts of altruism do not go unnoticed. I sincerely appreciate the time and energy you all take out of your day to make the world a better place.

Thanks Again!
A.G.

Congratulations to our most recent donors. There's no telling how many lives you've saved by these donations, and by past donations.

How often are you allowed to donate blood where you live? Here in Sweden men are allowed to donate every 3 months and women 3 times a year. You also get iron supplements with you to eat after every donation.

Well done to all the donators.
Keep up the life saving.

Due to a medical issue I'm not permitted to donate, but I'm a registered organ donner for the past 25 years.

Donated two units of platelets today. Donation number 291 at Canadian Blood Services, Toronto HQ on College Street, near Bay Street.

Donated blood today! I went with my right arm, which I haven't used for donation in several years after having an unfortunate incident one time... this one went much smoother. :D

Donated today at the local American Legion post, have the picture of the bandage to prove it if needed. Eligible again on July 13 but that's right before vacation so I may wait until after vacation. The same place is doing their next drive DURING my vacation.

The "vampire" had trouble locating the spot he wanted on my left arm (the only one I've used for donations before so it's a bit unusual) so he stuck me on my right arm. BP 110/80, hemoglobin 16+ (which meets the new requirements for men).

I salute you for donating and for your attractive avatar and forum signature!

It seems I'm not the only person who always donates from the same arm. Some people have the luxury of alternating arms, but some of us have much better luck with one arm than the other, so we "stick" to the side that "sticks" best.

For those who are frightened of needles, please keep a few things in mind. It's normal to be afraid of something that can hurt. That's how your brain protects your body. But it's mostly the *anticipation* that causes people anxiety where needles are involved. The actual stick is very quick and done by professionals who care about your comfort. And you're doing this to save lives, so perhaps one worrisome second shouldn't stop you anyway. If you look in the other direction, take a breath, or distract yourself in some other way, you may hardly notice the jab. It's momentary, and nothing like stubbing your toe on a table leg -- now that hurts!

Not so much "better luck" with one arm vs. the other, just a preference to not cause/risk intentional injury in my dominant arm. I seem to pump equally quickly from both arms. Previous donations have not been a problem finding the vein in my left arm, this guy saw it but felt more comfortable with what he saw in the right. 12th donation lifetime today, BTW. I believe that's 1.5 gallons?

Over the last two days our 22 man training team donated a pint of blood each. That is 100% of the team.
