Donation number 375! Break out the Disco Ball! Party like it's the '70s. Two units of platelets. This is what it looks like to donate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Definitely true about limited numbers but fast service. I had an appointment last week. When I got there I was told they were full and tried to call me. I made an appointment for earlier in the day today and everything went smoothly.

Two of my blood teams report donations this week; Australia 4 pints and New Zealand 2 pints. Other members of the two teams are supposed to donate later this week.
Fantastic! A wonderful belated birthday present.

That leaves the Blood Drive totals tied as of tdoay: 55 units of blood and 55 units of platelets. Who will break the tie?

The Aussie/NZ teams came through with 2 more pints each. My housekeeper and her squeamish husband who is retired British SAS, also donated this week, his tough-guy image goes out the window when it comes to needles, chuckle!

My two American teams are suppose to donate after the Memorial Day weekend, I will gently remind them, I have dirt on them!

Members of the two US teams were going to donate this week, but one team deployed and will not be able to donate until they get back. The other team was able to give 5 pints this week and the rest of the team hope to complete the team's goal of 100% by next week.

Final Blood Drive Tally

The 2020 MacRumors Blood Drive has ended, but you can record donations from now through April 2021 on our 2020-2021 Team Page. These donations will be tallied all year, for the next MacRumors Blood Drive, in May 2021.

We encourage eligible people to continue to donate blood and platelets at any time of year, to spread the word about how important it is, to sign up for the organ donor registry and bone marrow registry, and to encourage others to do the same.

Despite the difficulty of getting appointments during the pandemic, we had excellent Blood Drive totals:

Blood: 58 donors, 67 donations, 67 units

Platelets: 6 donors, 28 donations, 57 units

Plasma: 2 donors, 2 donations, 4 units

Totals: 64 donors, 95 donations, 128 units

1 new bone marrow registry signup
Thanks and congratulations to the forum members and friends on our Honor Roll:

and to all other blood, platelet, and plasma donors.

How to record your donations from June 2020 to April 2021

Team-MacRumors-small.jpg

  1. Bookmark the 2021 Team Page, if you didn't already.
  2. Go to the 2021 Team Page.
  3. Click PLEDGE TO GIVE BLOOD.
  4. Fill in your MacRumors username as your first name and @ macrumors as your last name.
  5. In the Comments field, tell us what type of donation and how many units, e.g., 1 unit of whole blood, 2 units of platelets, etc.
  6. The email address and zip code fields don't matter. MacRumors won't use that information.
Your blood, platelet, and plasma donations from now until April 2021 will be tallied for inclusion in the next MacRumors Blood Drive, in May 2021.

Donated today, almost didn't happen though. The girl had a hard time finding a good place to stick me, she had to use a BP cuff to finally locate a vessel/vein. Once I was flowing, it only took 4:43 to complete the pint.

Sorry, missed the second part of the instructions. 1 unit, whole blood.

Haven't donated blood in like 10 years, I should probably do it more often given that I have 0 negative blood...

Donated again today, whole blood. I'm over 3.5 gallons lifetime. The same woman has taken my donation the last couple times.
