So I know that the AI-ification of everything can be tedious. But hear me out.

We relaunched an AI widget for buyer’s guide and roundups.

We had an early version before now which had its issues, but the new version is much better.

MacRumors produces a lot of content. Roundups, buyers guides, comparison articles and more. But if you don’t keep up daily, it’s really hard to find that info.

The AI widget is tied into our specific articles. And provides solid answers to common questions about Apple products and rumors. And I’d say better than general ai models (ChatGPT/claude) on the same questions.

Give it a try. Any obvious issues, let me know.

We do impose rate limits to avoid abuse. But logged in users have a bigger allowance.

Pretty neat. How far back did you train it on news articles?

Just playing around a bit it didn’t have anything on the iPhone 6S.

We actually do go pretty far back. This didn't work because of how we tagged old roundups vs how we tag them now.

I fixed it the iPhone 6s roundup so it can be found in this situation

Because it's legitimately useful, for this particular case?
Is "legitimately useful" - and the use of the adjective "legitimately" in this context does beg the question of what precisely this word is intended to convey - the sole metric used to arrive at this conclusion?

I must say that this fills me entirely with horror, technologically fascinating though some may consider it to be.

Not sure you’re being very clear here.

Legitimately, meaning it provides utility and is not just a parlor trick for show.

I’m often asked by people in real life about upgrading iPhones or some question about new vs old features. And I KNOW we wrote an article on the topic but if I have a hard time finding it, there’s no chance a random reader is going to find it. This will surface that info easily.
