I was just thinking about the site only having the essentials, kinda like the mobile version; but actually optimized for the iPhone's screen size ... just to minimize the amount of scrolling needed. Just a thought...

No I understand what you're saying. I definitely think maybe a link you can click to turn off things like icons, or images... just to make the site fit better on the screen. I mean obviously if you wanted to you could view it normally, but by giving you the option, it at least allows a more proficient way of simply getting the information.

Then again, you could argue that any changes to a site on the internet to accommodate a device are just counter-productive in terms of universally keeping things the same.

I could argue/see it go either way. My instinct though, would be to keep the sites the way they are, and have the phone cater to the sites... And that is exactly what I think Apple's thoughts and directions are with the iPhone.

People are optimizing sites like digg... it does not make much sense. Just cause there is no SDK, does not mean developers need to turn perfectly good sites into applications.

with AT&T's specs for the speed of edge the site should only take 8 secs to load. Not much if you ask me
