Satechi has some nice stuff. Wished I would be able to use this. Looking to get both my M1 Mac Studio and my Dell Work laptop to connect to share my 2 apple displays

Yea have to agree. the "oh look - runs 2 monitors" and the " and we'll give you an air (small breath.... that only actually supports 1 monitor) so you can do everything in these wonderful image that show 2 working displays!" Lol.
A lot of these devices accomplish this via DisplayLink drivers. It's a bit ghetto, and not as good as native dual-monitor support... but for non-demanding use cases (like a work desktop) it works fine most of the time.

No specs on the Air, so I’m guessing it’ll be a M1 with lowest spec available. Still wouldn’t say know given I’m on a 2013 MBP!

I have two - one hdmi and one DisplayPort - and they work just fine for my needs.
Are you talking about a Macbook Air? I just looked at the specs for M1 and M2 and Apple says only one external display. The devices themselves only have two thunderbolt ports so you'd need an adaptor and one of your monitors would have to be a thunderbolt monitor that supplied power.

Yes - I have an m2 air to which I connect a usb c dock. That dock has an hdmi input and a DisplayPort input.

Works like a charm.

Wow! Do you mean HDMI output? So you have a thunderbolt connection to a dock, and from that dock you drive two monitors? That's amazing -- I just want to be clear about the setup before I buy something expensive to try it.

Since Apple's specs say "only one external monitor" I didn't even try. I really would like two 4Ks side-by-side.

What resolution do you have on the two monitors?

Yes, sorry - output.

The 2(+) monitor workaround uses one hdmi and one (or more) DisplayPort.

As I understand it, DisplayPort works well for office work and video, but not for gaming. It’s a software thing…

That’s the limit of my understanding.

What I do know is that my Dell dock works beautifully for two monitors, but I’ve heard the OWC ones work even better.

Edit: check the DisplayPort limitations before you buy, please - I’m a user, not an expert

I just looked this up and it can work if you install a driver. Did you do that?
