Like on the new M1 iMacs?Oh, I love these!!! So many amazing colors that Apple should have done, rather than just white. That's why they have Beats, but Apple could open up their colors a little. *shrug*

I don’t suspect you’ll have any issues with paint fading, like from touching from your hands excessively over the course of time, but I probably would avoid things like using rubbing alcohol, any type of cleaning solutions with the AirPods. The only other issue you might run into, is if you drop the case or the AirPods, there’s the obvious effect of ‘Chipping’. My advice, just use a damp microfiber cloth for any type of basic cleaning. Can anybody speak to the long term color fastness? Like does the paint wear off/chip/dull over time?
No, because AirPods are white and only white.Shocked Apple hasn't offered color options for AirPods. It would sell like hotcakes. Unfortunately, they don't fit my ears at all. Doesn't matter if I'm still or active. I'd give them away if I were to win.
Fading, no. Coverage issues, possibly. If there was any residue prior to coating, it could flake and bleb over time. It's physics and chemistry. I wouldn't worry about it though. Yeah, any shock, or scratches/friction will obviously increase chances of observable damage. But they do look AMAZING until then...I don’t suspect you’ll have any issues with paint fading, like from touching from your hands excessively over the course of time, but I probably would avoid things like using rubbing alcohol, any type of cleaning solutions with the AirPods. Except a lot of knockoffs are similar looking and "you won't immediately [know they're] 'AirPods' unless you're up close to the product and examining it. 🤷♂️A big part of the draw of Apple is showing your peers that you're sporting a genuine Apple product. Once AirPods come in black, red, or other colours, then you won't immediately think "AirPods" unless you're up close to the product and examining it.
Trying to decide which color am I going to get, 😂
