For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with BlackPods to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win a pair of AirPods that have been custom painted black.

Apple only offers the AirPods in white, a color that doesn't go well with the Jet Black and Matte Black iPhones, leading BlackPods to come up with a solution for customers who want unique black AirPods at a slightly higher cost.

BlackPods sells the BlackPods Classic, in a high-gloss black finish, and the BlackPods Stealth, in a matte satin finish. The glossy BlackPods Classic are available for $279, while the BlackPods Stealth are available for $299. Apple's AirPods are normally priced at $159, so that's a $120 to $140 premium, but the finish is impeccable.

According to BlackPods, the company uses a proprietary coating system that's been designed just for the AirPods, with a three-phase finishing procedure for a high-quality finish. Each pair of AirPods is hand finished and given a "rigorous" quality inspection.

In addition to selling AirPods directly, BlackPods also allows customers to send previously purchased AirPods for customization. The painting service costs $99 for glossy black and $119 for matte black. The process takes approximately 10 days and covers both the AirPods and the Case. Aside from the black paint, BlackPods are identical to standard AirPods.

We have one full set of BlackPods to give away to a MacRumors reader, with the winner able to choose either the Stealth or Classic finish. To enter to win, use the Rafflecopter widget below and enter an email address. Email addresses will be used solely for contact purposes to reach the winner and send the prize. You can earn additional entries by subscribing to our weekly newsletter, subscribing to our YouTube channel, following us on Twitter, or visiting the MacRumors Facebook page.

Due to the complexities of international laws regarding giveaways, only U.S. residents who are 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter. To offer feedback or get more information on the giveaway restrictions, please refer to our Site Feedback section, as that is where discussion of the rules will be redirected.

The contest will run from today (August 4) at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time through 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time on August 11. The winner will be chosen randomly on August 11 and will be contacted by email. The winner will have 48 hours to respond and provide a shipping address before a new winner is chosen.

Typo in “The winner will be chosen randomly on August 4”? The contest runs until the 11th.

Oops, I clicked 'enter' before noticing it was for U.S. residents only. Oh well, I'm not gonna win anyway so no biggie :p

Perfect for my Jet Black 7+. If I do not win, I will buy a pair. These look awesome!

Oh wow, please let me enter this giveaway, I swear I won't tell the government if I win and I pay the shipping! :(

Blackpods shows $279 (Gloss) $299 (Matte) and ships in 2 weeks (estimate)
Colorware shows $299 and ships in October (estimate) for the black pair.

I am curious of the paint and durability as well.

One thing to note, I do not believe that Colorware will let you send your existing AirPods to them to paint, where Blackpods does have this service for $99 (Gloss) $119 (Matte). I'm not sure that I would go that route though. Although, I do have some scratches on my charging case and maybe that would cover them up... ;)

Another week, another entry into a macrumors giveaway. I do wish results were posted publicly sometimes I wonder if people actually win these things.

Doesn't stop me from trying though... fruitless as it may be.

Fruitless, badum tshh

I of course entered to win. Black AirPods would be awesome. That said, I imagine services like this aren't exactly helping with the ongoing shortage of AirPods....

Yeah, I won some giveaway for the iPhone 6 cases. MacRumors had ordered some from a supplier in China for a story (this was pre-iPhone 6), and they had their logo printed on them. I think they had to order like 50 or 100 though as a minimum for the order, so there were a lot to give away which increased my chances. It was really handy to have a temporary iPhone 6 case right when it came out. I don't care much for transparent cases, which is the only reason I didn't keep using it, but I've still got it in my office at home.

These AirPods look really slick but I just can't justify the price. I feel like Apple will introduce more colors at some point down the line. Maybe later next year to spur sales further. Then they won't have the cutout around the sensors. I think the first new color will be jet black, followed by rose gold and eventually product red. Seems weird to build a business around making a product in a new color, but maybe they hope to use this to expand into something like Colorware further down the road? Customization is pretty big nowadays.

Agreed. Simply knowing fellow readers have actually won stuff might encourage future entires.

sometimes I wonder if people actually win these things.

Oh, people definitely win these. I habitually enter the giveaways and actually won once. Turns out I'd won an accessory for another accessory for a product I didn't have…

I ended up not responding to the email which lets the next winner claim it instead after 48 hours.

Black is better. Will looks great with my
swarovski male earrings. Yeah

Hmmm, The black ones look nice. Now if I could only win an iphone to use these with... lol.

The reason I don't share who won giveaways is because I want to preserve privacy. I don't share any info from any giveaway winner or entrant with anyone, aside from the info necessary to ship a prize out. If a forum reader wants to share that they've won, that's up to them, but I'm not going to force someone into it.

Fair enough. One of these days the RNG will be in my favor I suppose. :)
