Another week, another entry into a macrumors giveaway. I do wish results were posted publicly sometimes I wonder if people actually win these things.

Doesn't stop me from trying though... fruitless as it may be.

I've won before, but it was a USB-C dongle... you just get an email saying you've won and asking for your address. I almost thought it was fake at first.

For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with BlackPods to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win a pair of AirPods that have been custom painted black.

Apple only offers the AirPods in white, a color that doesn't go well with the Jet Black and Matte Black iPhones, leading BlackPods to come up with a solution for customers who want unique black AirPods at a slightly higher cost.

BlackPods sells the BlackPods Classic, in a high-gloss black finish, and the BlackPods Stealth, in a matte satin finish. The glossy BlackPods Classic are available for $279, while the BlackPods Stealth are available for $299. Apple's AirPods are normally priced at $159, so that's a $120 to $140 premium, but the finish is impeccable.

According to BlackPods, the company uses a proprietary coating system that's been designed just for the AirPods, with a three-phase finishing procedure for a high-quality finish. Each pair of AirPods is hand finished and given a "rigorous" quality inspection.

In addition to selling AirPods directly, BlackPods also allows customers to send previously purchased AirPods for customization. The painting service costs $99 for glossy black and $119 for matte black. The process takes approximately 10 days and covers both the AirPods and the Case. Aside from the black paint, BlackPods are identical to standard AirPods.

We have one full set of BlackPods to give away to a MacRumors reader, with the winner able to choose either the Stealth or Classic finish. To enter to win, use the Rafflecopter widget below and enter an email address. Email addresses will be used solely for contact purposes to reach the winner and send the prize. You can earn additional entries by subscribing to our weekly newsletter, subscribing to our YouTube channel, following us on Twitter, or visiting the MacRumors Facebook page.

Due to the complexities of international laws regarding giveaways, only U.S. residents who are 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter. To offer feedback or get more information on the giveaway restrictions, please refer to our Site Feedback section, as that is where discussion of the rules will be redirected.

The contest will run from today (August 4) at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time through 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time on August 11. The winner will be chosen randomly on August 11 and will be contacted by email. The winner will have 48 hours to respond and provide a shipping address before a new winner is chosen.

I can verify that they are legitimate. I won the SanDisk IXpand 128gb. Took almost a month to get to my house, but it did indeed get here.

I have no doubt winners receive their prize, MacRumors is a reputable site and has stood the test of time!

I have so far won 3 of these drawings.

1) Casetify iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus case.
2) Fantastical for Mac from Flexbits.
3) PencilCozy-S from Cozy Industries.

People do actually win these things, therefore keep trying and keep the hopes up. ;)

Never knew international law made it complicated to allow giveaways outside the US. Seems strange that it would be a problem.

I've been waiting for apple to release these in black - had no idea this was an option! Signed up every possible way - let's go!

These AirPods look really slick but I just can't justify the price. I feel like Apple will introduce more colors at some point down the line. Maybe later next year to spur sales further. Then they won't have the cutout around the sensors. I think the first new color will be jet black, followed by rose gold and eventually product red. Seems weird to build a business around making a product in a new color, but maybe they hope to use this to expand into something like Colorware further down the road? Customization is pretty big nowadays.[/QUOTE]

I hear you and I generally try to stay positive about things but the price is just way too high for what you are getting.

Fingers crossed, I've been wishing for these for a while now. Just couldn't pull the trigger with that price...

Entered but I know I won't win. I could be one of two people to enter for something and I wouldn't get picked. LOL

Ah well. Can't hurt to try!

i do believe these contests are real. believe it or not, i won a matrix cellphone (it was very expensive) back in 2001 or so by entering with sending in a mailed postcard from radio shack. i also won a ps2 from netflix in the early 2000s (2001, still have a pic of me with it).

odds of winning here will be slim though as tens of thousands of people visit and enter. that's less than 1% chance if even 1/10th of 1%. just pure luck. at least MR is having contests. that's how i see it. i don't see why cnet doesn't. so many of these companies get so much tech stuff that is extra or just a waste (the employees snatch it up) that could instead be used to keep viewers/readers coming back and show at least some sense of loyalty/thanks back to the viewer/reader.

i used to have a youtube channel for fun and even i gave stuff away. i am not some rich guy but even then i wanted to thank viewers by giving out some little stuff. this routine contests is a big thumbs up from me for MR.

A $120-$140 premium is a "slightly higher cost"? LOL Check out the chipped paint at the opening to the case. I'd be glad to win these, but wouldn't buy them until they're made by Apple.

that chip is glare from light/flash. it is not damage to the case. since the plastic was originally white, of course when you use it in daily wear and tear, it will chip down to white at some point but generally it should hold for years. the actual airpods that is. case doesn't matter as airpods are what stick out annoyingly enough when white.

It's fixed now. Winner will be chosen on August 11.

In the future ... considering you have readers that are global and long time members would Macrumors find a way to allow this a global participant contest please? For such a well known forum site - and large membership with healthy revenue surely the complexities are not such big hurdles.

We're working on it. There are some countries where we may never be able to offer giveaways due to stringent rules, but we're looking into expanding.

black looks so much better. I really don't like white (wireless) ones - they look silly without the wire - at least I think so  Black ones look much more discreet. Sometimes I hate Apple don't provide you with any option, because the always know what is best for you

Agreed, the stock white ones remind me of the "hair gel" scene in Something About Mary ...

Haven't won anything here, but I've won a smart watch, iTunes gift card, smartphone, digital games and a designer bag. A few of those I was one of 250,000+ entries.

I wonder how many of those entering ragged on AirPods in the past?! :)
