Wow, I can't decide if that year went by quickly or slowly....
It sure was a full year though.

Question for all of you:
At last year's Stevenote, he proclaimed this to be the year of the notebook. It has been an exciteing year for Apple notebook users, what with the 12 and 17 inch variations, the phasing out of the Titanium for the Aluminum, the sub $1000 iBook, and the final elimination of the G3 chip (from the iBook, and, unfotunitly, the sub $1000 price tag). However, as cool as these announcements are, it seems to have been much MORE the year of the G5 and the iPod/iTunes. Does this seem accurate? Or am I has Apple made more money/popularity with laptops than these products?

Also, what do you think next year will be "the year of"?

Go Macrumors!!!! The only site (besides Macweek) that I check on a bi-hourly basis!

The LCD iMac was introduced. It was a CRT before this. Time Canada actually leaked the photo of the LCD iMac the night before. (also 14" ibooks and iphoto... see link)

Apple also hyped significantly that MacWorld with teasers on their Apple.com site in the days before the keynote:

Count the days. Count the minutes. Count on being blown away.
Beyond the rumor sites. Way beyond.
It's like a backstage pass to the future

there were more...

what i was getting at was that since 2003 was so huge, 2004 might be a bit of a let down. it seems, however, that jobs has been on a roll for these macworlds, and won't disappoint on the 6th or whatever.

Haha...

I went and looked at the forum comments on the "Beyond the rumor site...way beyond" link. One guy posted:

For all this hype, I predict:

- g5 announcement - shipping delayed to near future
That was in January 2002! Couldn't help but laugh :)

Toot That Horn!

As a nod to a line from "LOTR: Return of the King":

"Arn and MacRumors - you bow to NO man."

Here's to another great year of friends, rumors, gossip, switchers, political threads being closed:D and spreadin' the Gospel of Mac...MacRumors simply Rules the Internet.

Job well done and

If there is such a thing as a "credible rumors site" ... this is it. It's entertaining to discuss topics here as well.

The site is very nicely laid out and serves it's purpose well. The majority of the people that post here - have great insight. That said - some people abuse the forums and "make a forum a chat between two people"

I think the site should encourage private chats and remind people to stay on topic.

Finally, I appreciate the information and resources this site provided me for JackWhispers.com. This site assisted me, not only with back up information, that the owner was a "used car salesman" but I believe, by the constant poor credibility ratings of the rumors posted, from MacWhispers, that it persuaded Jack to shut the site down.

That truly is my favorite part about the MacRumors site - the analysis BEFORE & AFTER a rumor period - to see who was right.

Could MacRumors make a new section called : Rumor Credibility? One that lists the rumors from particular sites and their track records? (including your own)

MacRumors is my favorite site.....

I must check this site out 10x a day.
Truly, the best site for Apple information!
2003 was a great year...
2004 will be awesome!

I love this site especially before the big shows. The excitement on this site before a show is contagious! 2004.. bring it on!

I registered here about a year ago, and I have to agree with everyone - it's been a great year. When there's ever a major Apple event I can always count on MacRumors to be covering it extensively well - from the rumors in the weeks before, to the actual day of the event.

Thanks to arn, Mudbug, and all the mods for all your work you all put into the sites and the forums. :)

Excellent site, this is one of the key sites that pursuaded me to switch to the Mac last year after using Windows ever since version 2.0! keep up the good work.

I'd say this has been one of the biggest years in recent history for Apple. The introduction of the G5 alone is news worthy of big accolades. Combine that with the iTMS and it's easy to see that 2003 was a huge year for Apple. Cheers to Apple and the folks at MacRumors who bring us all of the great news before the rest of the world.

2003 was great (ITMS, G5, new PBs, the list goes on...), but I think 2004 will be even better - G5s hitting 3 GHz+, G5 iMacs, new iPods, G5 PowerBooks, ITMS International - and who knows what else!

And I'll be avidly following MacRumors through it all. My sincere thanks again Arn, to you and your crew for an amazing site and all the time and effort you put in on a daily basis.

Thanks Macrumors & Macrumors members.

It took me 6 long months to make my purchasing decision, and I can honestly say that without the expertise on these boards, I wouldn't have been able to make an informed purchase.

Invaluable service to the Mac community, of which I am now proud to be a member of.

Happy New Year!

Found this site in July after bouncing around various Apple related sites for years. I think I'll stick around for the Tuesday Rumor of the Week. (Hey, that might make a nice new feature)

Great job Arn!

When will Steve Jobs be sending each MacRumors Forum member his or her sales commission check? Seriously, I wonder how many switchers and new purchasers have been convinced to buy a Mac because of arn and all the members who provide advice and assistance?

Well you can count me as one. This site was invaluable to me, like many I was nervous in making the switch, as I did not know anyone else who had a Mac. Knowing that I could post a question and get a speedy response was a great help.

Thanks to you all.

I started with a PowerMac MDD, and now have a 15" Al Powerbook.

When you're ready to retire from the rumour business, you should try selling this site to Apple.

I spend a lot more time here than at any other mac-site. Between here and slashdot/apple, I find out everything I need to know well before the 'general' populace gets wind of it.

I wish you all, and MacRumors in particular, a very prosperous and happy new year.

Cheers
