FWIW, I just tried your same search with Google ("time machine hanging on to backups of old drives") and it didn't find your thread at all. Sorry, never used duckduckgo.

Yeah.... I've noticed searches like that show results in DDG much quicker than Google.

DuckDuckGo uses Bing so try if the result would be the same in Bing.
