Say arn, doesn't the new XHTML/CSS format decrease your bandwidth load. How come you can't keep the full version of the site up during the keynote. Is the bandwidth load during the keynote simply too prohibitive.

I can imagine thousands of Macheads refreshing MacRumros.com every 3 seconds. That has to eat up bandwidth quite quickly.

I wonder how the site sponsorship deals (the ads that help pay for the site) are affected by going into low-bandwidth mode. No ads => no fees for the day?

This is awesome! I have been wanting this, but I didn't want to ask. :) But this is great, now I can check MacRumors as I drive around town!

Wow. Thanks again for all your work, arn! We really appreciate it!

Someone voted negative on this?? I think even if MacRumors gave away a free Mac to everyone visiting the site, there'd still be someone who would give it a negative for some reason (why can't we have TWO free Macs?!) :) Just kidding of course.

Excellent!

I've been reading the Macrumors front page on my mobile phone, all the extra content makes for a lot of scrolling. This will be a welcome addition. I'll also be able to use it on my WML-only phone (LG VX6000, Verizon) in addition to my HTML-capable phone (Moto i205, Nextel).

Is there a WAP /WML browser for MAC OS X?

Is there a WAP /WML browser for MAC OS X? I had one for Windows some years ago.

hmm.... am i the only one?

hmm am i the only one who gets the front WAP page at wap.macrumors.com? When I choose the "Next Page > " button on top or click on the articles postfixed with "(WAP)," I get "No reply found."

Maybe it's just my phone but it's pretty standard (Nokia 6800). Just a heads up.

Unknown Response errors on Nokia 3200

I am having problems with the MacRumours Site on WAP, for a example today I can read the first page, but clicking to move on I get an Unknown Response Error.

Page in question is http://wap.macrumors.com/?sid=20040119162257

I have run the page through the validator at http://validator.w3.org and find that an ' character is used on the page which is not allowed.

This page is not Valid -//WAPFORUM//DTD WML 1.1//EN!

Below are the results of attempting to parse this document with an SGML parser.

Line 11, column 125: non SGML character number 146 (explain...).
...2F">released iCal 1.5.2 today</a>What’s New in iCal 1.5.2<br />

I know Nokia phones will not display invalid pages, so this is probably the reason.

I hope some one can sort this out.

Please can someone look into this, I have emailed the webmaster several times with no response.

I checked the wml code again and this time the current page 2 looked compliant.

The other possibility is the wml header that is being sent from the php code may not be present in the correct place on the 2nd page, I believe the header("Content-type: text/vnd.wap.wml"); statement in php needs to be the first thing on the page.

I have a php wap site that is database driven and that works fine.
