I'm still using full auto until I have a chance to sit down with the manual and try stuff out.

But you get an idea of it's capabilities with a medium-close shot, a far shot with zoom, and a macro shot.

that's a good couple prelim shots...

what exactly don't you know? how to operate stuff (obviously) or just aperture and shutter speed in general photo type terms?

not sure your background in such stuff....

good start though. i need to figure out my dad's new cam... it's pretty damn sweet.

I know what they mean...I just don't know well enough what they do in practice. I'm starting to play around with them...having a blast...I'll post some of the night shots later.:D

ahh... takes some getting used to.

but once you do it is great. the use of different shutter speeds can make for some really cool pictures. same with aperture.....

D1x users should pick up MacBibble (or the PC version, Bibble). it takes verticle resolution (or is it horizontal?) that's lost in production of the 5.x megapixel image (due to the 'rectangular' pixels of the captured image) and creates a 10 megapixel image...all you need is the NEF file. note: MacBibble can't read compressed NEFs...although I dunno why people would really want to use them...they delay the zoom feature in the LCD preview by quite a bit.

grok- i believe he's using iphotos built in create webpage option. you select an album in iphoto and based on your internet itools pref it will create the page on your itools account. it's very very easy.

Yeah...that was iPhoto, the lazy man's online photo album builder.:D

:::::2nd Update:::::

I've added a couple more shots to the pages, showing the "Night Shot" and "Night Framing" modes:
[edit: removed the linked, PM or email me if you want to see some samples]

These are in auto mode, so you can see how much noise is introduced in the night-vision style shots. Some adjustments in ISO settings or shutter speed would help with that.

The night framing is actually pretty cool, since it allows you to see via the night-vision, but then pops up the flash and takes a normal picture. I was pretty surprised with the quality.
