If you paint and do art, you have a better understanding of composition, spacial relationships and color theory. Think of 3D as a tool, a canvas, and don't worry about specializing in it right now, just have it as one of the many things you can do. Have fun.

my first wife who studied art in college thought commercial artists were second class fine artists

my second wife also studied art and thought that commercial artists were simly using another medium and its those views that finally made me realize tha a commercial artist is not a failed fine artist

disney is really art the same way jackson pollock and basquiat are
