We've got a lot of Macs and a lot of PCs at work. All in all I'd have to say that Macs are equally crappy as most PC brand (like Dell, HP, FSC). Some PCs are worse (notabily Acer - they break all the time and service sucks).

Also, Apple really seems to have an issue with bad pixels. We have a huge number of Macbook Pros with a (small) number of bad pixels. That's an issue the other manufacturers don't seem to have. Also, Apple tends to use B-level replacement screens (meaning when there's a screen failure, the replacement very often has bad pixles).

My Macbook Pro has had an uneven backlit display and broken audio out jack. I've never heard of these problems on a PC. It must be a case of Stockholm Syndrome because I still think Macs are better.

I'll add to the HP reliability anecdotes. I've always heard HP's were reliable, but from my friends' experiences, they are all but. Even my friend who's an HP fanboy and whose mom works at HP, admits that HP's reliability sucks. My cousin who had an HP and was anti-Apple is switching to a MBP once his HP dies one more time (it's been broken 2-3 times already from keys falling off and HD problems).
