Nevertheless, I agree that IBM has seemed to be favouring the gaming industry over the Mac community with PPC development.
Of course they have. The gaming industry represents a much larger chunk for PPC processors than do Apple's requirements for G5's - Apple's slice of IBM's semiconductor division is ~1%...IBM simply doesn't care about them because it's such a small percentage of their PPC market. As you know, IBM PPC's are going to be powering all three of the next gen consoles - they'll be shipping a TON more chips to MS, Sony and Nintendo than Apple. Apple's switch to x86 was a no-brainer, I'm glad they did it. It'll mean cheaper, faster, cooler Macs and probably will increase the amount of product line updates too!
To keep the thread on subject, though...
I'd like to see a Bluetooth MightyMouse, which I'm sure is in the works. I'd also like to see the next generation PowerBooks use better screens. The 12" PB has a sorry screen compared to some competition (re: brightness) - they should also make it WXGA instead of 1024x768.
I'd like to see the 15" PB use a 15.4" WSXGA+ or a BTO option for a 15.4" WUXGA rather than the 15.2" screen - they are more common now and moving to 15.4" standard would probably lower the costs as they are all over the place in PC's and 15.2"s I have only ever seen in PB's. For the 17", they should offer the 1920x1200 HD screens that other manufacturers are shipping now as a BTO option or better yet, standard. After all, this the "year of HD" or so says Jobs.
I'd also like to see the ability to EASILY replace the Airport cards in new PB's and iBooks - with the Pre-N and N standard coming, I'd like to pop in an N card EASILY when they come out. All you need is an extra door on the bottom or to stick the card next to the RAM slots and make the door a little bigger.
ALSO - I'm sure this is in the works too, but a 2-mouse button trackpad on the PB's and iBooks. My prediction is that they'll have a single button with 2 sensors like the MightyMouse.
Otherwise, I think they're doing a good job.
