I subscribed to Mactech in late October via an email solicitation they sent out.

I received my first issue on December 28th, 2013 and it was the November 2013 issue. I emailed Mactech and asked them where the December 2013 issue is and at that point the January 2014 issue. They said that I should have the December 2013 issue any day. I still don't have it.

Has anyone received the December 2013 or January 2014 issue yet? Are they on they way out of business possibly?

I subscribed to the MacTech magazine on 14 January 2014 and I still haven't received my first print issue. Even though I'm in Italy, 8 weeks have already passed and I think that I should have already received it by now. I don't even know if I'm supposed to start receiving the December 2013 or January 2014 copy.
I got the December 2013 iPad digital issue, though, but it's March now and no 2014 numbers have been published yet.
I sent an e-mail to MacTech's customer service and I'll let you know what they'll say.

Well my subscription was for 6 months, which is up in March. I have received a total of 2 issues.

I did receive an email renewal notice. I suspect things are going bad there.

The last issue I received was the December 2013 issue with a big yellow sign on the front that says "The Future". I may have forgotten to renew my subscription.

They've been around a while and from the looks of the MacTech Conference in LA that I attended last year I don't see much sign of their business folding.

Dec. 2013 appears to be the most recent issue. Publication dates are definitely erratic, but there's no indication that the company is closing operations, it's been this way for some time.

This is the reply I got from them:

Nothing is wrong and the issue is shipping now. The iPad issue will
be available for download shortly.

As of 2014 MacTech Magazine has changed the naming of the issues.

We have made this change to avoid confusion, including between the
iPad and print version releases of an issue. Nothing else has
changed. We are still a monthly publication and you will still
receive all issues you signed up for. In other words a year
subscription still contains 12 issues.

I'm sorry if this is confusing. Ultimately, it won't be -- but
obviously, there's a transition period between the old naming
convention and the new.

We are monthly. The December moniker didn't represent what you might
think it did -- it represented when the magazine production started,
not when it shipped. It's been that way for a while, and with more
and more folks getting the iPad version, it was getting even more
confusing.

Why is the iPad version different? Simple. It appears
electronically, and therefore quickly -- as it isn't mailed, and
doesn't need to be physically produced. That's been confusing people
more and more -- and rather than hold back the iPad version as many
publications do, we're doing the name change instead.
It's not very clear to me… they talk about a generic change in the naming of the issues without specifying how the new naming will be.
Looking at the MacTech Back Issues page of the MacTech Store, I see a 2014 issue named Issue 342 "Seven Reasons You Need Mavericks Server" but there is still no sign of it in the iPad Magazine app.
By the way, their Store needs a big update, IMHO.

For the records, Issue 342 "Seven Reasons You Need Mavericks Server" appeared in the iPad Magazine app about a week ago.
They also updated the app! :)
This is the first issue of 2014 and has been published on March, so if it's true that "a year
subscription still contains 12 issues" I assume that this "year subscription" will actually last more than a year.
Now let's see when the physical copy will hit my mailbox…
