First, although I just registered tonight, I have to say that I have been reading these forums for several weeks and appreciate all the advice and wisdom contained here.

I have been anxiously waiting the unveiling of the new iMac, and was a bit dissapointed, but decided to move ahead with my plan to purchase a new 24" version.

Went to the Apple Store in Estero, Florida and picked mine up earlier tonight. I'm typing on it now! They didn't have any on display yet, but when I expressed that I was very close to purchasing, but worried about the "glare factor" they said they could set it up for me (I had to purchase first). The guy said I wouldn't have to pay the restock fee if I decided I didn't want it. I think he knew I would love it and he was right!

The employees were all coming over to take a look - they said I got the one and only 24" they had in stock (available to sell). They are putting out their displays overnight tonight.

By the way, the glass screen/glare issue isn't really an issue at all. I LOVE my new iMac!

Now, to learn how to use everything!

Congrats and welcome to the mac world! :)

So does the 24 inch screen look as big as it sounds? I'm getting the 24 inch one, am currently using a 17 inch emac. So, I'm guess I'll be very pleased with the extra space.

Yes, the 24" screen is massive. Everyone who see's my fathers is blown away. There is so much room you won't use the entire screen. Webpages look pathetically small on it. It really is nice ... almost too big.

They only had one 24" model available for sale? Congratulations on your purchase.

Very nice purchase sir (I believe the 24" yields a rank of 'sir'). I'd love to have one of those babes, alas I need a portable, but good going and welcome to two new worlds.
