Hi,

Just curious about this. I received my new M1 iPad Pro yesterday. The 2020 12.9 Magic Keyboard seems to work and close like a charm, I didn’t notice any issue or resistance when closing it.

Does somebody have issue with the compatibility? I’m not using screen protector, but for the ones that are, do you feel any resistance or issue when closing your Magic Keyboard?

Enjoy your new iPad!!

I've only been using my 2021 iPad Pro 12.9" with the 2020 MK. So far so good. I'm not seeing any particular issues. Out of caution I am very gently closing it, but I'm sure I'm just being over cautions.

I too would be happy to hear the good/bad/ugly for use of the 2020 MK with a 2021 iPad Pro!

Edit: I should have noted I am using a skin on my 2020 MK. The skin comes in sections. The only screen facing skins are on the left and the right of the trackpad. I don't know if this helps or hurts the fit. But I'm not seeing ugly gaps as I survey the iPad from all three sides (excluding the hinge of course) while it is closed.

Maybe longer term use will show an issue? Only time will tell.

A few hours use. Works OK, closes OK. Have not noticed any gap (not using glass screen protector yet, which I was with the 2018 iPad pro 12.9) Will wait and hear reports with glass protector or back skin .

I am using a glass protector. No issue at all here.

I’ve seen only one post, in another thread that I started, where the user has shown some kind of marks or smudges on his screen that he believes came from the 2020 MKB on his new iPad. That’s the only comment I’ve found anywhere, YouTube, reviews, threads here, etc. that mention this. I don’t really see how that would happen but since some of you guys are using a screen protector with no issue that would be a way to circumvent any such issues. A couple years ago I had a case that had magnet indentations that somehow left smear lines across the screen spaced apart the same distance as the magnets. I just slid a sheet of paper in when I closed the case to prevent that from recurring. You could probably do the same here instead of applying a screen protector if needed.

Mine is working perfectly. My only thought is I want to add a dBrand skin, hopefully it won’t make it too thick! I hope someone reports their fitting when they come out.

As everyone else who has used the new iPP with the 2020 MKB I found today that my new iPP, just received today, works just fine with the old MKB. Didn’t expect any issues and haven’t seen any. I have read that those with a 2121 MKB see a small gap when they peer in at the side of the combo when closed. There’s no gap visible in my set up so clearances are probably tight but that doesnt cause a functional problem. And I’ve only seen one comment about anything on the screen possibly caused by the keys. All other reviews and posts have not mentioned any such incident.

Thought I’d cycle this topic again for any who may be getting a new iPP this summer or who might have found a discounted 2020 MKB. Absolutely no issues with using the two together. Very glad I didn’t succumb to the initial hysteria about these devices.
