I've had the 12.9" Magic Keyboard which has been working perfectly.

This afternoon the cursor stopped working. I can still see it and move it around but it no longer 'snaps' to any UI elements and I cannot click anything.

I can still type on it and trackpad gestures still work.

Apple Support have no idea other than classifying it as 'Hardware Issue'.

I have arranged for it to return to Apple but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I decided to restart the iPad one last time before I boxed the keyboard up and it worked!

I've put the return on hold for the moment to see how it behaves.

I'm reliant on it for work and I'd rather not be without out it for what might be several weeks.

I'd still be interested to know if anyone else has seen this.

I've noticed the same type of behavior on my 11" Magic Keyboard on two occasions. The cursor was sluggish and not operating properly but the keyboard was fine. Both times I removed the iPad from the keyboard and put it back on and it cleared up the issue. For me I believe the issue is the contacts are not fully seated between the iPad Pro and the Magic Keyboard causing the issue to develop and have it go back to normal once the iPad is removed and put back on.

Will the issue permanently fix itself if you update to iPadOS 13.5?

I think you’re right about the contacts being the issue but I did remove it and restart the iPad several times. The issue persisted for about two hours.

It has worked perfectly since. I’m hoping this was an isolated incident.

It was already on 13.5. Hardware seems to be the most likely culprit but I remain open minded. Fortunately it’s been fine since yesterday. Given the price I expect longevity!
