magic keyboard fault?

hi.....................can anyone help please...certain keys on bluetooth keyboard would not work 7 8 9 u i o j k l m, . so thought keyboard was faulty, bought a new one but I have the same problem with the new one. does anyone know what the problem might be? t i a

You've got Number Lock turned on, which makes those keys behave as numerals. You didn't mention what model Mac you're using but you probably installed an app to do that. Here is an example:

NumLock for OS X will enable number lock on Mac keyboards

Folks accustomed to number lock may have a hard time moving from an Apple extended keyboard to the more compact keyboard layout found on Apple's wireless keyboard or its MacBook models. If you can't live without num lock, then you should check out the NumLock app, a Kickstarter-funded app from...

Yes. When num lock is off you have a normal keyboard.
