Magic Keyboard - Having Backlight Issues

Anyone else having issues with the backlight on the new keyboard ? Mine doesn't light up at all at times and I have to reboot the iPad before it works again.

It works 90% of the time - but not always.. Weird..

No issues here. Mine operates as intended.

I just had the opposite issue, I had locked my iPad screen using the CMD + Control + Q keyboard shortcut and set my iPad aside. I noticed a few minutes later that the keyboard backlight was still on, I let it sit for a couple minutes to see if it would go off and it didn’t. I then unlocked the iPad and locked it again, the backlight still wouldn’t turn off. Finally I removed the iPad from the Magic Keyboard and put it back on, it’s been fine since. Maybe a software issue? I’m on the latest 13.4.5 beta.

noticed a battery drain during the day on my new 11“ iPad Pro. When my room got darker I saw the backlight of the keyboard shimmering through the keyboard case from an angle.

Case was closed - rebooted the iPad and it went back to normal.

The backlight is dependent on your iPad‘s settings.

Minor qwirks to be expected with brand new tech I suppose. I’m sure it’ll get fixed in updates. I reported to Apple Feedback.

Had the same issue yesterday. I just left my iPad sitting there until the screen turned off and noticed that the light was still on. Usually it turns off way earlier (like 30s of not using the keyboard or something). Tried closing the cover (even then it was still glowing) and using it again and waiting for a minute and it never stopped glowing. Then i just removed the iPad from the cover for a few sec and everything is back to normal.

No issues here on a 12.9” one and so far its working more reliably than backlighting on my MBPs. I’ve not had to adjust the settings for this, or screen brightness manually once.

I’ve had on and off issues; no backlight, backlight doesn’t turn off. Usually, a hard reset and removal and replacement of the keyboard does the trick. I’m sure/hoping that a fix will come via an OS update here shortly.
