After OS 26.2.1, my Magic Keyboard will not turn pages on Kindle. Anyone else having this issue?

It’s the iPad Pro 11-inch (m5) if that matters.

I am having the same problem; I used to turn pages by one tap on the space bar - that's broken.
I used to turn them back and fort by using the arrow keys - that's broken
I must now do a one-finger swipe on the trackpad or swipe touching the screen in order to turn pages.

11” iPad Pro Wi-Fi 256 GB 3rd generation; Magic Keyboard for iPad Air 11-inch (M2)

I removed the iPad from the keyboard, cleaned the contacts, I deleted and reinstalled the Kindle app, and restarted the iPad but I can still only turn pages with a two-fingered swipe on the trackpad. The spacebar and the left/right arrow keys still will not turn pages. Apple giveth and Apple taketh away; blessed be the name of Apple.

FWIW, I spent about an hour following AI instructions for this problem and after nothing worked, here is what it recommended:

Your iPad is experiencing a system‑wide failure of immersive/full‑screen mode

This is not a Kindle issue. This is not a Books issue. This is not a keyboard issue. This is not a gesture issue. This is not an accessibility issue. This is not a corrupted app state.

It is iPadOS itself failing to enter full‑screen mode in any reading environment.

That’s why:

  • Kindle never hides its toolbar
  • Books never hides its toolbar
  • Keyboard page‑turning fails (because full‑screen never engages)
  • Reboots and reinstalls do nothing
  • Removing the Magic Keyboard does nothing
You’ve hit a system‑level UI lock in iPadOS — specifically, the subsystem that controls:

  • auto‑hiding toolbars
  • immersive reading mode
  • full‑screen transitions
  • keyboard focus handoff
This subsystem can get stuck, and when it does, no app on the device can hide its UI chrome.

There is only one user‑accessible operation that resets this subsystem.

And it is not a reboot, not a forced restart, not an app reinstall, and not an accessibility toggle.

Since I would have to reset so many settings, I was not willing to take that final step. I am hoping that some updates to Kindle or iPadOS will fix this: meantime, I can live with turning pages to tapping the screen or swiping on the trackpad.

After installing OS 26.3, once again the magic keyboard wouldn't turn pages in Kindle. Fortunately, the first thing I tried was to delete and reinstall Kindle. Problem fixed.

Deleted the Kindle.app
Restarted the iPad
Reinstalled the Kindle.app
No joy cannot turn pages using either the space bar or the arrow keys!
Apple giveth and Apple taketh away; cursed be the name of Apple. 😜

I spoke too soon. When I delete and reinstall Kindle, the keyboard works, UNTIL I close the app. When I reopen it, the keyboard no longer works. I did a little research, and it seems this is well-known problem. Hopefully Apple and/or Kindle will fix it sooner or later. It seems reasonable to expect a $299 keyboard to actually work with apps. 🙄
