Magic Keyboard opinion “no escape key”

I remapped my escape key, but to a iPad function not to an alternative keyboard key. I mapped it to lock the screen. You need to use Accessibility settings though. @The Game 161

I use the back button/home and lock a fair amount so far.

I thought this would be an issue however it is not as big of a deal as I had thought. The one thing that I had to keep in mind was every app is full screen so I don’t need escape, I need the gestures to go to multitask or go back to home. I’m sure that I will run into more “where is my escape” situations but so far so good. I just keep in mind “iPad” not a computer .. yet.

This is a very nice keyboard so far!

Well, I am fine with command-period as a substitute, but it also lack a full row of function keys.
Can the global key be used somehow? ( global-2 to increase screen brightness, global-0 to mute etc)

I use escape quite a bit with a keyboard attached. I’ve remapped caps lock to escape, which I do on some of my desktop keyboards anyways.

Mainly in apps like tweetbot, after tapping on an image to go full screen, escape brings you back without having to reach up and swipe it away.
