It's hard to get definitive confirmation, but the 2nd gen pencil and magic keyboard can both attach to the 4th gen Air at once, right? From watching the announcement video it appears as if the pencil attaches to the right side (when held vertically) while the keyboard cover 'hinges' from the left side.

Has anyone got this combination (or I guess even a pro + magic keyboard & pencil) and can comment on how secure it's attached? I don't expect to throw it in a bag randomly - more likely to slide it into a pouch in a laptop bag.

I have both for my Air 4. When docked in the keyboard, the pencil rests on the top.

Ah! Nice. And does it stay attached securely if you close it?

Well, it does stay attached, but just magnetically. If you were to catch it on something, it would pop off. It would be fine for just carrying around in your hand but if you toss it into a bag with other stuff, the pencil may get knocked off. I do wish the Magic Keyboard had some sort of physical closure for the pencil.

How are you enjoying, or not, the Air 4 + magic keyboard combo? I've pulled the trigger on the Air already but am deciding on the keyboard still.

Personally, I think the keyboard is great. It’s feels very high quality and the typing experience is excellent. Very similar to that of the Magic Keyboard in the MacBook line. I tend to use my Air naked when handheld which makes it so easy to pop on or off of the keyboard. I also didn’t notice any issues with it being a smaller keyboard compared to the 12.9. All the main keys are pretty much full size. I have no problems typing on it.

I have read complaints here regarding the durability of the cover material so I guess time will tell.

All in all, a very good product, although pricey.

And I’m super impressed and happy with the Air 4. It’s replacing my 9.7 iPad Pro which I accidentally cracked its screen. The new iPad is super responsive and so light to hold and use. Thoroughly enjoying it.

Thank you for the insight. Think I'll take a shot on it with the extended return window.

Yes, absolutely no harm in trying it out to see if it works for you. Like you said, the return window is extra long right now.
