Apple have agreed to replace the magic keyboard for me, putting a temporary hold on my card for the value... just wondering if I will be sent a brand new in box one or a brown box refurb...???

Hoping it’s a new one as I haven’t really had it long... anyone had one replaced by Apple before?

My power supply for the 2020 i5 Air was DOA, they put a hold on my card and sent me a replacement which was brand new.

Ugh. My concern is that I don't use my keyboard/case too much at home because I am using it more in portrait mode with an external keyboard, and I don't travel too much because of COVID so my unit isn't going to be able to see the wear issues until I am well past Applecare coverage. I am actually regretting this really expensive purchase.

You can get Apple Care on the MKB? It wasn’t offered when I bought mine.

AppleCare+ for iPad.

"Every iPad comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary technical support. AppleCare+ extends your iPad, Apple Pencil, and Apple‑branded iPad keyboard coverage and includes up to two incidents of accidental damage protection every 12 months. Each incident is subject to a service fee of $49 for iPad and $29 for Apple Pencil or Apple‑branded iPad keyboard, plus applicable tax.1 In addition, you’ll get 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone."

"The Plan covers the following equipment (collectively, the “Covered Equipment”): (i) the Apple Watch, HomePod, iPad (including an Apple Pencil and an Apple-branded iPad keyboard purchased for use with your iPad, referred to as “iPad Input Devices”), iPhone, iPod, or the Apple- or Beats-branded headphones listed on your Plan Confirmation (“Covered Device”), (ii) the accessories contained inside the original packaging of your Covered Device, and (iii) for Monthly Plans with an original Plan purchase date prior to September 2020 only, an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station, and an AirPort Time Capsule if used with a HomePod or an iPad that is a Covered Device and purchased no earlier than two years before the HomePod or the iPad (“Connectivity Device”)."

So you would have to have bought it all together before Sept 2020. That’s crap.
Your concern is about the Airport products?

That clause applies to coverage for "an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station, and an AirPort Time Capsule if used with a HomePod or an iPad" if the monthly plan was started prior to September 2020. In effect, those accessories aren't being covered when used with a Homepod or iPad for monthly plans after September 2020. I suppose the two-year reference makes sense since Apple discontinued them at some point in 2018 (https://www.macrumors.com/2018/11/16/airport-extreme-time-capsule-removed-from-apple-online-store/).

It doesn't apply to the Apple-branded keyboard and pencil as noted in item (i).

Had a replacement, but have noticed on the new one there is a dip in the material just above the ‘3’ key as pictured... can anyone with the 11” tell me if it’s normal to have a slight dip in the material in this area, it’s as if the material has sunk somewhat... it not major just not sure whether to bother with another return or not as I didn’t really notice on my previous one.

You can really see the dip you have to feel for it.

Mine has the same small unseen dip. I would not worry with a turn.

I think it’s just that square section on the photos attached of the X Ray and a tear down on YouTube... probably slightly recessed in the body.
