When I’m on this forum and want to add an emoji to a post or response, and I’m on my iPad (M1) w/Magic Keyboard, I use the trackpad to move the cursor to the “Like” button. On my Macs and my MBP I immediately get a selection of emojis, and click on the appropriate one; on my iPad/MK that popup doesn’t happen, and if I click on the “Like” button with the cursor, half the time I get a thumb’s up emoji only and half the time I get nothing.

Well, today I figured out that if I instead touch the iPad screen directly, with my finger or my Pencil, the emoji selection box pops right up, and I can pick any emoji with no issue.

And, just a week ago, I discovered something else: if I scroll thru a long document, or say a bunch of EweTube posts, as I get further and further down the scrolling action on the trackpad gets slower and more jerky, but if I scroll directly on the iPad screen, again it runs just fine.

Now, these are both first-world problems that I’ve already discovered the workaround for, but it’d be cool if the MK trackpad remained as responsive as the iPad’s screen (don’t know if it’s a software or hardware issue). Just a head’s-up to Apple or others here who have the same issues.

EDIT: Heh, and now I just noticed that I couldn’t post this with “No prefix” selected; that doesn’t happen on my Mac/MBP either!

I'm definitely not seeing the issue with scrolling on the trackpad getting slower as I move through a long document - I just double-checked with an 850-page document and it was smooth all the way through, no matter how fast I scrolled. I have the MKB with a 1TB M5 13" Pro.

Addressing your first issue. I had a similar issue with a Wordpress theme that I had bought in that hovering with the touchpad didn’t bring down the menu. I was told by the developer it depends on what number of pixels the software sees as being the maximum for a mobile device. If it sees it as a mobile device it doesn’t register the hover from a touchpad or a mouse.
