Hi all,

Just wanting to know as a future buyer. Those who have the 11” iPad Pro and the magic keyboard. How is the typing experience on it?

I am seeing some mixed views. Some say it’s a bit cramped others say it’s all good? Let me know thanks.

It is a bit cramped, but I only needed a short adjustment period to adapt. It’s fine now. I can’t speak to the experience of typing something like an essay on the 11 keyboard, but it‘s been great for emails and texting (I tend to text in paragraphs). I‘ve been using it for 1.5 weeks and I haven’t gotten any buyer‘s remorse. This iPad accessory is a keeper.

The QWERTY and number keys are almost completely full size and as such I can type just as fast on the 11” as on my MacBook Pro 15”. However, some of the other keys are definitely smaller such as tab, caps lock, shift, return, delete,+ and-, ~ key and the modifier keys like cmd, option, ctrl etc. Whether you find it cramped will entirely depend on how large your hands are.

I’m a 90wpm typist and I love this thing. My only real issue is with the shortened “return” key, but it’s not the end of the world. I came to this from the bluetooth Magic Keyboard (2nd gen), the one without the number pad, and I think it’s a very comparable experience.

Thanks everyone for the replies. If typing hasn’t been impacted due to the size of the keyboard then it’s all good for me. I have normal sized hands anyway so looking forward to getting this keyboard. I may however wait out till Apple stores re open and allow me to check it out for real before going ahead with purchasing it.
