Looking to get a new keyboard with Touch ID for my MacBook Pro, and currently have the smaller magic keyboard without, but I was thinking of picking up one with a numeric keypad this time, but I'm wondering if I'll get used to an off-center keyboard when typing. Anyone have any experience or preferences?

I've been using the wide magic keyboard for several years... started with the old wired keyboard with the keypad, and just loved it... when Apple discontinued them, I wen't wireless... still no worries... I'm on a 27" iMac, so the TouchId is not a factor, but the keypad is valuable to me... no worries (for me) with the wider/off-center design.

IMO, it's more an aesthetic issue... sitting in front of my iMac, it looks a bit off-center, but it's my computer and it doesn't bother me. YMMV

Even though I have small hands, I like the keyboard with the numeric keypad. The one without I keep stumbling over the keys with the keyboard without one. I'm not a hunt-and-peck typist, but I find the keyboard keys bunched up even though it is just psychological on my part.

I've been using mechanical keyboards for around a year now and I don't think I will go back to conventional keyboards. The keyboard on my M1 MacBook Air is fantastic for a laptop keyboard, but when I'm at my desk, I'm using a mechanical 75% keyboard with a small bluetooth num pad for when I need it (fortunately it's not really that often so it works for me).

Currently using a Keychron Q1 with Gateron Brown switches -- the Q1 isn't terribly wide at all, so there's no long reach to the mouse at my right.

For a time I thought about using a left-handed extended keyboard, but never found one I really liked.
