I guess I should have mentioned earlier that I already have a wired mouse - I'm just fed up with it! I am looking for a wireless solution, hence the topic of this magic trackpad vs magic mouse debate.

One key problem is that my current wired mouse only works on a specific mouse mat, so using it without this unwieldy mouse mat is not an option. I think I may start off by using the trackpad as much as I can, and keeping the mouse on top of my external HDD, tucked out of the way, unless I need it (in which case I then need to grab the mouse mat!).

Rest assured Scroll Reverser is one of the first apps I downloaded when I started docking my MacBook in my dorm room :)

Ah, as far as bluetooth mice go I'm not too sure. Definitely try and avoid those requiring that little-USB nub-dongle thing.

I really wanted to love the magic mouse, after continually finding Apple-mice sub-par, but it's profile is just too low and the gesture-work just isn't comfortable for me.

The trackpad and gestures is the first Apple input device that I absolutely love and I can see why they're pushing the OS further towards dependency on it.

Well I went for the Trackpad and have just received it. My only query is to whether or not I have a duff model! The 'click' is much more muted (i.e. it doesn't feel as click) at the bottom-left corner than the bottom-right corner. Is this normal?

The click actually comes from the rubber feet on the bottom. Give it time to wear in.

Just an update: I got the trackpad replaced for the clicking issue, and the replacement is perfect.

It's been interesting adjusting to the Magic Trackpad, but coming from a guy who was a PC gamer (with all those gaming peripherals to boot) it has to be said... the trackpad really is a fantastic tool for navigating on a Mac!

When it was released i bought the trackpad for my iMac just for try and after a week or something, it was my preferred input method. I use it for every task, gaming included (shooters, or strategy) and I use it to work with Logic (audio).
